Some of my distaste comes from not wanting random strangers polluting my gaming experience. That can be either snobbery or a matter of taste depending on your perspective. The other points raised have much less to do with snobbery and more distaste at the thought of yet another generic copycat trying to get the "real" money derivative MMO because Blizzard did so well with it game. As for Deus Ex, it is one of the tightest put together yet most free game in regards to solving objectives that I have played yet. Marred really only by some hackneyed boss battles.

I was totally kidding dude ^^;
I understand why you dislike MMO's, and i hate them sometimes for the same reasons you do. The reason why i play WoW is mostly because of RP anyway.

It's cool really. A lot of MMO's force you to work with others. I don't like being forced into that in a video game. Part of it could be snobbery. I really have not fully examined it.

It depends if the people you work with are nice people though. I had both good runs and bad runs in dungeons, so it's a mixed bag.

If enough folks here get into it to form a party maybe just maybe it could work for me. The origin stories for the character classes are supposed to be something else. But then again DA 2 was supposed to be something else too (actually it is, I'm just not AWESOME enough for it).
As always reviews and user opinion will be needed.

With the exception of EVE, what drove me away from other MMOs was usually the endgame. WoW and EQ especially, because I disliked having to be part of "uber" guilds just to get even a vague shot at the high-end stuff (DAoC eventually created this problem for itself when it released "Trials of Atlantis"). More than that, however, I disliked how such raids and guilds often brought out the worst in people. If you could stand all the ass-kissing and drama queens then maybe it wasn't so bad, and there might well have been guilds that were the exception to the rule, but I never found them.
Frankly, unless this game has a better endgame than that, I doubt there's any chance in hell I'd play it even on a free trial.

What have battlechantress had said. I've played WoW for almost three years before I've called it quits, mainly due the cut throat attitude with the guild members. I've yet to find a guild I could call it home or a safe haven to lounge around with them. Worse that it brought out the worse of me at the time, due to starting to becoming obsessing with the loot.
By the time I've realised what an idiot I was for not getting myself straight my piroties... it was too late and I'm stuck in uni for the long run due to it.
Hence this is why I'm not going to deal with another MMO for a while. I don't care if it's popular and shit. If I want to socialise, there's the forums and Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments. OR real life friends at a bar like... the Mana Bar.
