It's like he just wanted to talk to someone about whether it was genetic or grooming
(Incidentally it's obviously not grown and cut like hair. They're lizards, and the fringes are big, heavy, meat or bone. It would hurt when they cut it. This guy is an idiot. But that's beside the point.)
I think he just wanted to talk about this bizarre idea of his. I hope you don't let it bother you so much, mate. At least he seems to have stopped now.
---
EDIT: The other guy, though, who corrected your spelling and made a snide remark - I'm pissed off about him. (Only I may do that).
EDIT EDIT: Your design for a female turian character is a hell of a lot better than the one in that comic.

Yeah, you see I'm having quite a shitty day. I'm trying to be polite but you know I have limits, especially the whole Darwinism thing.
Edit: I hope I'm not digging myself into a bigger hole.
2nd Edit: I think I'm fine now, turns out this kid has been trolling around DA, pissing off any artists who do turian women sketches and insisting them the grooming theory. Still I got trolled. One of these days he's going to be hit by a nuke of Garrus plushies.
At least I've got a few more coments, favourites and a ME group asking me to display my art work to their community group. So it wasn't so bad.
Now back to painting...

There ended up being more reading here than I could commit to up until tonight.
I'll start by saying I like the art. But then I like most of your art.
I think you may have been hit by a troll on your page. It looks like a few comments were removed from your page as well. Was that a Deviant art admin? I have not seen any canon reference about the fringes being groomed like hair but maybe I was wrong about that. Still I get pissy when people take the piss out of other people for absolutely no cause. I almost found myself in the position of breaking up a fight on the bus tonight because some people just like to start shit over nothing.

That's basically sums up the whole thing I've dealing with. As for the comments, I've managed to find a way to hide them, no point displaying a pointless argument when there are other comments that need to be enter by other people. It's my 'page' after all. Still that episode reminded me that I should get a Concept Art account soon, since I need to hang out with more professional users, as my professor told me, especially when I'm dealing with my portfolio and on the verge of leaving uni. Alright enough with the whole "turians grooming theory" shanagians. Bottomline: DA has lots of twats running around, cutting a turian's fringe is equivalent to cutting an arm off and I have been trolled big time. So sorry for all the unnecessary rant in this thread, let's get back to the topic. I've been painting this since Tuesday. Still work in progress, hence the plainess of the picture. Was about to finish today but I'm quite tired atm. I'll cook up a proper turian female anatomy concept soonish, without the earhorns.

mind you, people are brutal nitpickers at conceptart.org. It can be pretty good, but depends on how well one can take criticism.

It's coming in nicely. Granted I have no talent whatsoever so I'll gush on anything but all the proportions are where they should be and the face is quite detailed. mind you, people are brutal nitpickers at conceptart.org. It can be pretty good, but depends on how well one can take criticism. Professionals should be brutal nitpickers with each other. that's how people see mistakes and improve. Please note that I said professionals and not random internet trolls who wandered off the Bioware forums because they are getting a little more quiet and they are missing all the fun they had in setting pleasant discourse on fire. I doubt there too many trolls out there who will pay good money to troll a stranger with so many free accounts available so I think a pro account will do you a lot of good and very little ill with your art.

Professionals should be brutal nitpickers with each other. that's how people see mistakes and improve. That's how it should be. I personally don't care one bit about receiving sugar-coated critiques, but others may mind it if they're not accustomed to the mentality or take things personally. Also, they can be particularly blunt over at CA.org.

Well some degree of tact should be encouraged, but if there are genuine issues that need to be addressed, they are best to come from a peer tactfully or not. I won't say blunt or unfortunate things simply because it is an effort for me to make a stick figure. But another artist who could give feedback or technique tips...different story. As a non artist I might see that something may not seem quite right, but I may not be able to nail it down as to what that something is. Blunt or not if the criticism is constructive something good can come out.

Actually, that's what I've been expecting from conceptart.org. I was hoping that they would give out blunt criticisms and feedback. As long the comments are all about how the work should be improved, what's wrong with it or anything is just related to my work; I can live with it. That's what the professional artist community is all about. Still, I need to practice a bit more before I'm ready to join conceptart.org.
However, personal insults especially in regards to use the term 'Darwinism' loosely, as a way to say "people with Asperger's should go and DICF" is a different story. That's... something I cannot handle too well.

Like i said. you had a troll. Usually best not to feed the buggers unless you are in the mood to bait them like I get from time to time. When folks are deliberately condescending on the internet like that they are usually fishing for something. My favorite tactic is to bait them into writing a big long wall o' text and then laugh at them. They usually get all pouty and go away after that. Regrettably deviant art is not the best place to engage in such troll hunting behavior.

Hmm... I should take notes from you on how to deal with trolls for now on. I think this is the first time I think I've been hit by one. Regrettably deviant art is not the best place to engage in such troll hunting behavior. I'm not sure... deviantArt is infamous for that reason alone. (The other infamous they are known of is a truckload of furry art, from what have heard.) Either way, After I've finished a couple of my concept artworks for the "Empire in Fragments" series I've been working for myself, I'll start shifting towards conceptart.org and probably for now on, I'll post of most the stuff in my blog or something. Not because I felt sore from the whole thing, but because I don't have much time, life too short to deal with this nonsense and I'm getting too old for this shit.

Thanks for the complement but... to be honest, I think the reason that kid trolled my gallery, is mainly I've drew a female turian. I've heard that he's been a pain in the ass for the Mass Effect DA community, attacking anyone who drew a female turian, especially the non-canon ones where they have actual fringes. Now... if I've actually drew a hot Night Elf girl, he'll probably shut up instead. As for conceptart.org. I'll probably join in the middle of the year, when I have more stuff at my sleeves and I'm stressing less in uni. (Atm I'm really feeling quite crappy because of it.) Anyways, here's a finished version of it.

Wow, that's seriously cool. Good work there!
I feel like I'm supposed to recognize the symbol on the flag behind her. Is that something from the Mass Effect universe, or did you just come up with it?

Uhh... look closer at the official canon picture of the female turian on the first page of this thread. I've suspect it's logo that represent the Turian Hierarchy government. except in the painting I've did, it's an upside down version, where the refugee camp was in distress.
