It's true in Halifax too. At least the ER there stays open. Most of the rural ERs are poorly staffed enough that when vacation season hits they are on reduced hours or worse. Cutbacks are a bitch but the real problem is finding qualified people willing to work in the country here in NS is a chronic problem.
Nova Scotia is a small place but professional people like to live within a short drive of an actual city, we only have one and there are places that are 3 even 4 hours away from it. Good to know private medicine has the same vacation blind spot as public though...

Played it for a few hours last night. Loving it so far. The ONLY thing that's bugging me at this point is that I've heard the same song repeated like five times. Big Iron. That was before I even got out of Goodsprings. Still! EDIT: And I am very much looking forward to finding this...this...ah...dude...guy... He liked to hide in fridges whenever nukes were about to go off. imgur.com/nQz13

Which song? I hear this series uses oldies as its soundtrack.

For the love of god, if you're playing this game, pick up the Wild Wasteland perk. I just found Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru in this town fire. =D

This is the one I kept hearing. I don't really remember any more than that one, lol. I...only...bought...CIV V...last...week. Budget tapped...out. Must...resist. Seriously, how similar is it to Fallout 3? If the story is tighter it might actually snag me in a way Fallout 3 never quite did.

I'm about five or six hours into it right now. Honestly, if you liked Fallout 3, you'll definitely love this. No question. If you didn't, then it's pretty much more of the same. The story is not as prevalent as it was in Fallout 3. It's basically: someone dun killed you, and you're gonna travel the wasteland to kill him back. That's it, but the conflicts between factions and the various sidequests are all top notch. Really top notch.
It's still fun, very memorable, very immersive once you get into loot-mode. I'll have to see how it eventually shapes up, but so far it's definitely keeping up with its predecessor in all the places that matter. But the story: meh. One of the sidequests had me wide-eyed for a few minutes, though.

Have you tried out Hardcore Mode? Or picked up any of the companions yet? Those are two of the things I'm most excited about!

I was too afraid to play Hardcore Mode, lol, and I haven't found any of the companions yet. I just got to a place somewhere in the hills where this radio station pops up, hosted by a mutant named Tabitha and a ghoul that sounds like Mark Hamill's Joker. I was cracking up.

I've read you can recruit a ghoul vaquero-turned-mechanic at that station! It's so gonna be my first port of call.

Well, I'm loving the game right now. It's just as addictive as Fallout 3 was at first, if not moreso. I especially love playing Caravan, the card game Obsidian came up with for New Vegas.

Loving the game. I recruited Veronica, the Brotherhood of Steel scribe. She's quite an animal with a power fist.
