Thanks, guess I have to go around and doing side quests and companions instead to level up.
I'm having a blast again with this game. Although it does cause me to be lazy with my comics and I'm suffering a scredrule slip here. But I guess a little down time is alright for today, since the internet is bad enough that I can't use it to upload my page.

I think I've mention this mention in the thread before, I found little things in NV that makes this game charming, including running into the old grannies gang. watching Varonica beating legeionaries to death with golf club, screaming Ice cream, etc. Good times. I'll be sticking around New Vegas for a while, as I need a pick me up game in these times. (Including the career prospect I'm seeing so far after graduation...)
Then there are other things that reminded how much RPG elements are intact in these times. For example in the "I put the spell on you" quest, If you accidentally slip about the intel into the wrong ears, the next time you sneak into the communications tower, instead of eavesdropping some info, the mole was expecting you and he tried to ambush you instead. Choice and consenqunces indeed. Something that a few developers needs to rethink as a RPG developer. (Not naming names, here.)
And I heven't even step into the strip nor started the DLC arc. Not sure about you guys, but this game is a tad long and I like it. Pity I won't see games with this replayability for a while.

Obsidian has handled choice and consequences better than most for most of their games. Well, if I refuse to believe they did Dungeon Siege III then all of them.

So I'm countinuing with NV and currently doing that quest in Primm where you restore the Bison Hotel, which is only avalible in mod form. I like how it intergrated from the vanilla NPC to the homemade quest giver pathway. Also while VO for that NPC is not that great, his sniping comments about Deputy Beagle in that western accent made me chuckle a bit. Still can't wait to see what happens when you fix up that Bison hotel. Doesn't seemed to look immersion breaking so far at the moment. Obsidian has handled choice and consequences better than most for most of their games. Well, if I refuse to believe they did Dungeon Siege III then all of them. They probably did Dungeon Siege III because they needed the money I guess. Not so sure what happens there, never play the game myself.

I played the demo. Most of Obsidian's "go-to" guys had absolutely nothing to do with it, so I don't think it turned out as well as it could have otherwise.
But I agree there about their methodology in handling choice and consequence. Lonesome Road should be the textbook example of that. T'was amazing. xD

Even more so these days. Days have gone by when I'm starting to count a few games on my hand that do have the choice, consequences and lock outs mechanics.
One other thing, I heard somewhere the other day that Obsidian began a drinking game for themselves, whenever the word "choice" pops up everytime someone makes a campaign about it, when that someone makes an shameless promotion of their new game in development.

So, I've finally made it to Freeside and with the uncut Freeside mod, I can see why Obsidian might have to cut down some bits, it can be resource demanding at times (Also there's a reason why the place were split into differnt sections, to keep the game from crapping itself too much on lower end computers and xbox 360, PS3, etc)
Still it's impressive with this mod, not only it's full of people, it does look lively and does look at a true dump, just as I've always picture freeside as.
I would almost like the whole mod if that were for that one thing...
That fuckwad stole my 100 caps! One of the npcs aren't joking when they said "watch my caps closely in Freeside". With this mod, it's easy to get pickpocket on the butt end.
It's immersion, but that's a really painful immersion come to think about it.

Dang, the modding community has been showing Obsidian a lot of love lately! For anyone who has Fallout: New Vegas on PC, a few new patches are out (collectively called "New Vegas Uncut") that restore cut quests, dialog, and open up the gates of The Strip and Freeside, so that they each become two big zones without loading screens. Really excited for that, but I hear it makes the game pretty taxing in the memory department. Here's a video demonstration of the mods: And here's a link to the modder's profile: newvegas.nexusmods.com/users/3010984

I had that mod, that reminds me, I should check out the update for it.
Yeah it's pretty taxing, you better have a really good rig, otherwise you might need to refrain that one a bit.
My main problem for that mod was it kinda screwed up the Wang Dang Atomic Tango quest... and it's a mood breaker for me, since it's one of my favourites quests when it comes to doing it all over again. I hope they fixed it in the latest update.

Got the mods up and running (though, it took me ten hours to get to New Vegas this time). Here's Freeside: Everything's all opened up. You can go from inside the Old Mormon Fort to the Silver Rush to the Strip Entrance without hitting a loading screen. Three or four walls were removed in all, so the whole place just has this whole other feel to it. In addition, there seem to me 3x more NPCs, including pickpocketers and people who are anxious to shoot each other. It feels much more like the wild west and not a place in which you'd want to stand still for very long. In addition... addition, there was apparently a coding error that kept something like 2/3rds of the general dialog in this area (and I believe the Strip) from firing correctly. I'm already hearing a lot of things I never heard before. And as for the Strip! No more wall in the middle, and the place has been widened quite a bit. The modder also took the liberty of fixing a few of the objects, so palm trees will actually touch the ground now and other things trigger properly. And just like with Freeside Open, there are more NPCs. The Outside Bets mod also adds a ton of things back into the game that Obsidian actually coded for. Bodies in Primm will be removed after order is restored, NPCs will drop the right items, Mr. House's Securitrons will threaten you at the right times. Lots of things like that. Like Tillian said, the Freeside/New Vegas Open mods will light a fire under your computer. I noticed an ever-so-subtle framerate drop and I crashed in Freeside once when I was looking around, but I haven't had any problems since. If you have at least 4 gigs of RAM and a decent graphics card, you should be fine. It's totally worth it. The immersion factor and the hundreds of little improvements are fantastic here. Really, really wish this could have been in the main game! xD

I really need to get a new OS that supports bigger RAM capacity....
I really like this game even more and more. Despite it's age, there's still a lot of support for it and the core game itself is still a beauty in my eyes. I never though that this is the game that I will remember fondly of for this generation.
I get the feeling I will never shut up about this game to my kids in the distant future...

BUMP!
Just installed this on my PC, and I'm having problems with random crashing. I think it might be my video card, but I have an NVIDIA Geforce 260, which had no problems with Mass Effect 3!

How frequent are they?
If they're somewhat infrequent, that's just the way the game is, sadly.

On the PC, though? I would have thought they'd patched it out.
