BioWare announced yesterday that DA lead writer and jungle gym bully, David Gaider, is going to be writing a new book titled: Dragon Age: Asunder. Here's the blurb: A mystical killer stalks the halls of the White Spire, the heart of templar power in the mighty Orlesian Empire. To prove his innocence, Adrian reluctantly embarks on a journey into the western wastelands that will not only reveal much more than he bargained for but change the fate of his fellow mages forever.Just as a point of reference, we also have a new Mass Effect book coming out next year: Mass Effect: Deception. And then we have Drew Karpyshyn's pseudo-sequel to KotOR: Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan, which is due out in November.

The ME book I'll probably get (not least because I have gift card money to use up on my Kindle)

I'm not going to post in this thread because game writers writing novels about their games really annoys me.

Tell you what - Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne was pretty good. I really enjoyed it, at least.

I like Stolen Throne, reminded me a lot of a Song of Fire and Ice. I think books written for games beofre the game comes out are usually the best.
Look at 'Day of the Dragon', 'The Last Guardian' and 'Lord of the Clans' for the Warcraft franchise. To be fair, it has to be hard to write a novel if it's post your game and you have to have a 'canon' timeline, like they had to do in the KOTOR novels.

When DA: The Stolen Throne was good, it was really good. I loved the interactions between Loghain and Maric, and how it was all sort of building toward the underlying events of DA:O. The battles were boring as all hell, and there were many of them, but the payoff at the end was satisfying.
The Calling, I'd say, was worse than Karpyshyn's Darth Bane books. It read like Gaider had half a page's worth of an outline and tried to expand it into a 400+ page book. Absolutely nothing happens, and Duncan is written as the comedy relief. Plus, the whole premise sort of negates most of what happened in The Stolen Throne. It was a mess.
Now, I'm slowly making my way through ME: Retribution, which is actually turning out rather nicely. It's like someone gave Karpyshyn a refresher course on how to write adult fiction w/ curse words and he took some of the lessons to heart. It hasn't stolen my interest yet, but it's definitely well-written. =D

Are there any Krogan in those novels? That is my big fear with SF and fantasy novels, they at least need to have a character of a race i like in it.

There's a krogan bounty hunter/mercenary in the first novel, Revelation. Apart from that, uh, I don't think so. The second one, Ascension, is big on quarians, and the third one, Retribution, has asari, turians, batarians, well, part of it plays on Omega, so all kinda races.
Speaking of the third novel, I have the suspicion it will be made non-canon, or at least simply ignored.

How else can Cerberus be a main enemy in ME 3?

Indoctrination, of course! It's the magic plot device that can make anyone do anything!

Plot device full of bullshit! ... Or maybe only a large portion of Cerberus have turned rogue and only the Lazarus cell and the Illusive Man are the ones unaffected?

Ah yes, "Cerberus rogue cells". The alleged explanation Shepard is expected to swallow for all the atrocities Cerberus has committed. We have dismissed that claim.

Creepy blue cybernetic eyes. Only 2 characters have them. Saren and TIM. They have absolutely nothing in common, or do they?
Frankly I always felt TIM was in too much danger of dipping too much into the reaper tech sauce.A danger that comes out regardless of your actions in ME 2 because he had his grubby paws on too much of it as it was.
