People who say that playing actual musical instruments is pointless now due to computers, beats, and techno/dumpstep.
No. Somebody actually said this. In front of me. They also said club techno, hip-hop, and hip-pop are better than rock music, jazz, funk, and pretty much anything musicians who slit their hearts to and busted their balls to make.
I actually liked techno and industrial up to this point. I don't think I'll be able to look at it the same way ever again.

If you like techno, hip-hop, dubstep better than rock, jazz, classical because it sounds more aurally pleasing to you, then I have no qualms, provided you have your reasons.
I don't however trust any jackass who marginalizes the efforts of musicians who put effort and talent into it. That's the worst possible reason to dislike any genre like that.
EDIT: Not implying that Techno, Hip-Hop, and Dubstep don't require talent or effort, by the way. I've heard some damn good Hip-Hop and Techno songs that stirred the hell out of my soul.

I like some dubstep - not a fan of techno... or hip-hop. I love Classical, rock, a lot of metal... my music tastes are varied - but I'll always have a boat-load of respect for people who not only play the instruments themselves, but also write their own music (DreamTheater, for instance) - that is something I really wish I could do... anyone with computer knowledge can use computers to make the music sound good (and not dissing them, either, I also like computer generated music - as long as it sounds good) but it takes true talent to write and perform your own music on real instruments. I used to play the piano - I like to think I was really good, too - until I moved out of my parents' house into a small apartment that the piano didn't fit into, and my parents sold the piano.

Would anyone object if I smacked this moron upside the head with an old-school leather sap? I promise not to cause permanent damage.

I'm a retired musician and I endorse a little a smack for talking crap to actual musicians.

She was a chick, actually. She kind of reminded me of Ke$ha a bit that she was your fake blond, minor plastic surgery, spray tanned cookie cutter Western Kentucky University party chick, that wasn't exactly ugly but you still would not hook up with if it meant Half-Life: Episode 3 peace on Earth, in pure fear that your integrity and sense of reasonable standards will forever be damaged.
Not to mention she seemed dumb as George Bailey's rail newel.

This is unprecedented: I, a 4-channer, am going to join forces with a Brony and there aren't even furries involved.
Mark this date: 8 January 2013, the day hell froze over.

"Oh shit" is right. That bitch better not be in the same room I am at any point in her life, or I'll beat her dumb ass over the head with my violin/viola/theremin/bat made out of manuscript paper. 'Cause I am an instrumentalist, I am not obsolete, and people like me are the only motherfucking reason that dumb bitch has her electronic beats and shit in the first place.

Michael Bay is quickly approaching the #3 spot on my shit list. He recently bought the rights for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and is scheduled to do a re-boot movie next year...

That news is atually a few months old. The word has it that Bay plans to make the turtles into aliens instead of mutants.
