Being a desk jockey, sometimes we have downtime and get bored at my job which often leads to discussions of interesting import.
For example: we have determined the proper order of colloquial ways of saying "a lot". This is the order from least to most: assload, shitload, ton, metric ton, fuck ton, metric fuck ton.
We've also come up with various degrees of how much of a tool someone is. Least to greatest: tool, tool bag, power tool, pneumatic tool.
Yes, this is what happens when troops get bored and these are the tamer conversations we have.

I read about a man in... Indonesia, I believe, who put a bunch of his books out in the front of his house for people to borrow and read. Sounds like a disaster and a waste of time, right? No. His little "free library" idea works so well that neighbors and passers by add to the collection, and none of his books have been damaged or gone for long. That's inspiring, to me. Now that I have read this article, I think I should do something like that out here. Little lawn box libraries. Dare to make one in your neighborhood? No, I am not drunk, I am not even hallucinating (yet). I just think that this is a really cool idea.

I think it would just lay there and get rained on. Too many ignorant folks about.

Guess it's good that I live in the Drought Belt, then.

We had an adoption coordinator who is interested in Leila come out for a visit today. It didn't go like I thought it would. I know she's still "sketchy" around strangers (to put it about as tepid as a Nicholas Sparks novel), but I honestly didn't think she'd bark at her and hide behind me for 95% of the visit-- all while shaking. This, despite Henry, Annie and even the horses all nosing this woman for petting and treats the entire time, so you'd think she'd catch on. Thus, it has become official: this dog cannot be in a house with young kids under any circumstances, she needs at least one more dog around, and... like the trainer we have been working with told me on Wednesday, this one's probably my "new dog". I don't mind on the one hand; Leila is very sweet, but if I keep her then I can't take in any more dogs. On the other hand, I have watched a few people suddenly return their adopted Pyrs this week for very stupid reasons, and I don't think Leila could tolerate going to a new home and suddenly coming back for something similar. At least there's a happy ending in store for a 6 week old Great Pyrenees pup born in a field nearby who was nearly put down by the farm's owner. Not only was the pup and her litter saved, but her new adoptive home turns out to be... a mansion. Pictures to follow.

Going out on the ice as a hockey player for the first time in over 6 years. Unfortunately I've completely forgotten how to to a good hockey stop and skate backwards plus my puck control has gone to shit...
Still... good times.

This is the newest mansion dweller, Panda. Linders, Gorvar, you might want to cover your ears. Here's hoping she lives a life of much spoiling after her rough start.

These dogs are increasing in cuteness one by one. I don't know where it can even go from this point.

That's just endless amounts of adorable. May she bring whoever owns her at any time, Chantress included, the best of the best of joy.

Lily: She was one of six puppies born in a field. Momma's so-called "owner" brought them all to the vet to be put down and "promised" to get Momma spayed eventually (yeeaaaah, right). Fortunately, the vet held onto them and contacted the rescue instead. Cali: Thank you, but she's not mine. I can't afford a mansion, but her new owners sure can. I was oh so tempted when we briefly met to keep her here, however.
