I wouldn't object to a co-op campaign, with a separate story from Shepard's tale, like some of the Splinter Cell games do, but plain generic multiplayer modes? I don't see why Mass Effect needs 'em.
Of course, biotics and tech powers would make for some very interesting deathmatches, and if it gave us the ability to play as krogan or turians, that would be a good feature.

I can see a co-op campaign, if perhaps they allow a friend to take control of one of your party members. Maybe? Other than that, I'm not sure how they'd do it. They'd need to either change the game around significantly or, like you said, make it completely detached from the main story. Red Dead Redemption did this pretty well. I wouldn't object to it, but it sounds fishy.

I agree with Eleven Thirty-Eight. The Fable 2-style thing might work, with player 2 as either one of your party or some random hired merc.
Also I am British.

If they pull a KOTOR 3 on me here Bioware will never see another dime from me again. I don't mind the idea of a co-op campaign tacked on, but as I do not play MMORPGs I would get nothing out of a multiplayer only game. That would kill the story for me just short of the climax and that would really cheese me off.

I'd like to see some classic shooter multiplayer modes set in the Mass Effect universe. Battlefield style point capture, deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF ect. But I think it would be better as a stand alone game.
We'll see I guess. I hope they know what they're doing.

In theory Co-Op Multiplayer seems like fun but I'm not sure how it work, since you have to pause everytime you have to select your special abilities.
I've prefer it as a single player stand alone game, I'm a little concern if they didn't focus on the single player 'campaign' for ME3 due to their decision to add multiplayer mode, but still if they prove me wrong, I'm not going to complain either.

Hopefully it's for a ME other than ME3.
Well Casey did say they're gonna go ahead with ME4 (not about Shepard)

Well Casey did say they're gonna go ahead with ME4 (not about Shepard) Oh! Did he? They could easily make some kind of shooter game out of it - and I'm still in favour of an MMO.

Oh Jesus, Half Life 2 was terrible. I hope ME4 goes nowhere near anything like that.
Casey said in some interview not so long ago that the ME universe is too detailed to leave behind, so they're planning for more than just Shepard's story.

Oh Jesus, Half Life 2 was terrible. Wait, what? I would be happy with more ME games - but I hope they don't mess it up. (Halo.)

You mean too financially lucrative to leave behind. EA likes money. xD I liked Half Life 2, but not as much as other people. That game was like holy doctrine when I was in high school. You either converted or were made fun of endlessly.
