While I was skimming through Kotaku for the usual obligation of catching up with the news about the gaming landscape, I've found this article. kotaku.com/5495405/mass-effect-dragon-age-creators-consider-the-post+release-romance-packSeems like Mass Effect and Da is skirting on the dating sim territory. While I'm all for making a slight small closure on the sub-story of your romance love interest (especially after I've got burned from that scene in Horizon where Kaidan just storms off in a hissy fit despite Shepard's protest about being stuck in the rut) but concidering where game developers are... kinda full of grey at best, I'm really worried where this is going. Well I hope it's a genuine DLC with all the love and care from a real developer, not some quick buck making like the today's Guitar Hero games...

Hmmmm.
I could go for that. Mass Effect 2 really could have used more romance. Romance feels like an afterthought in it. If Bioware must deal exclusively in DLC, this is the kind of fun extra I'd like to see.

This could be a good thing. Awakening made me realise how much I'd miss a romance subplot in a Bioware game. It's became a staple part of their games, like annoying opening levels and heroic sociopaths.

Well, as long Bioware knows what they are doing, a romance DLC seems to be fine with me as well. Frankly despite my doubts, I would really want to see this DLC thing comming out, would be a nice pace of change to the usual action packed DLCs (usually...)

I'll skip it. I pretty much only do the romances because they're already in the game. And for the achievement point. Personally I dislike the dating sim fad. I can awkwardly flirt with women way out of my league in real life. 'WooHoo'ing some NPC just isn't my idea of a good time for what ever reason.

I'd rather just socialize with women in real life.

....wait...
DAMMIT
Also: The BioWare forums are getting really creepy with weirdos who think that Tali was actually in love with them.

I think its those conversations where Tali appears to be checking Shepard out. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Ok, its still kind of funny.

Everybody in the ME forums frighten me and not just the Tali ones.

Let's not start about the flame wars on their love interest in the BioWare forums. The Kaidan thread irks me a lot and that's coming from someone who kept her 'cannon' Shepard faithful due to enjoying the Kaidan romance from ME1. I've also find it funny and sad how people were so defensive about their prefered LI to the point they attack other characters.
Why can't we all just get along? There's a reason why you can have multiple Shepards on your Hard Drives and the LIs are all kinda decent.
Also that's proberby why I don't reply on the forums offern. Too "emotionally Engaging", not enough solid discussion on wild mass theories about Post ME2 in lore wise.
Also, it would be nice if they remember the MST3K mantra... really, seriously.

I was thinking of joining the BioWare forums but found them a bit too full of tetchy people. The horror stories I've heard about the Kaiden thread, as well as what has been said here, makes me pretty sure I don't want to go there even though it's the place the developers stalk. Pity. Some fans have gotten their art recognized there.
As for the romance pack, I think it's kindof a silly idea, delving too far into the dating sim territory for me. While I like pixel romance as part of an RPG, dating sims creep me out (is that hypocritical?).
The LI I want isn't romancable anyway. *grumble*

Ah yes, "Joker".
I've been trying to keep the fangirly babble off this site, since finding a fanfic hangout sans pairing obsession is like finding a diamond in the proverbial rough. But I've got it bad.

Oh, Joker! I'm actually surprised he isn't an option, actually. Just about every other person on the Normandy is, and he would have made a nice counterpoint to Kelly for the femsheps.
This is the only ME site I frequent (I haven't gone near Bioware forums, they scare me from what I've heard) so fangirly babble doesn't bother me. ;D

I know, right? The Kelly parallels are possible. I kinda like that he's ambivalent thus far--that's interesting for the very reason that everybody else on the ship is after Shepard. One can probably argue that he doesn't think he has a chance. But still, my fingers are crossed for ME3. The opening of ME2 (and the baaad ending) was really nice though (even though none of his dialogue changes depending on the gender of the PC, which is kinda irritating.) Still, I think I might keep that fanfiction on FFN. XD
