I have a simple enough view on racism: my blood's red just the same as any human on this planet. I'll find a better reason to detest someone than their skin color.

Why doesn't he close his mask when there's a potential he'll be scratched and infested himself?

Affirmative action has always been a bit of a WTF thing for me.
It should be a tool to ensure that race or gender are not used to exclude applicants. Right now it seems to be a bludgeon used to include applicants based on race or gender. Both are wrong and neither is more wrong than the other. With collage applications it should be easy. Those things are done by writing. It should be the easiest thing in the world to ignore race. Gender may be an issue depending on residency capacity for girls or boys but race shouldn't have to come into a written application at all.
As for the court decision, it didn't really seem to mean anything at all. It was saying to "limit" use race as a tool for accepting applicants, whatever the fuck "limit" means in this legal context.
The fellow complaining struck me as a little butthurt. I'm sure he was far from the only person who was excluded even though there were others with similar marks.I'm equally certain that many of those others were of minorities. A lot of people seem to forget that school have an upper limit for how many students they can accept in a given year. We were told nothing here about whether the university was at capacity or not. At some point names need to be drawn from a hat as it were. Lots of other schools, time for this guy to put his big boy pants on and do a little work to get into school. If this is too hard for him then the job market is gonna eat him alive.

I agree about the plaintiff. The phrasing just sounds petulant (now isn't that a better word that butthurt?). However the issue itself really bugs me. "We won't judge you based on your race, unless it's to get you into college, since you poor buggers can't get there on your own"

I like using the word butthurt though. When it seems to apply at least. I'm just saying court ruling or not, we really don't know if race was the issue at all. It might be a morsel petulant of me but I am really not gonna take a Texas court's notion of race relations word on this. We are after all talking about a state with the highest rate of executions in the US, with the overwhelming majority of those being minorities and the mentally challenged.
