Believe it or not, I actually voted for Obama as President and I registered as a Republican. Ain't life grand?

Voted for Gary Johnson and almost went straight ticket libertarian, with a few exceptions. I'm just glad the whole thing is over and we don't have to be forced to watch ads before we get to see our beloved YouTube videos about butt and fart jokes.

I think that to Americans who want a healthcare change, who want sensible foreign policy and who don't want the rich to get richer during an economic depression - and God help them those who are gay - Obama's victory is a damn good thing. I'm very relieved, very happy. Buch, Obamacare doesn't do a bloody thing about reforming the health care industry. Rather, it forces everyone to buy health insurance or suffer a massive tax hike as punishment. It also mandates what treatments people recieve based solely on the cost instead of what the person actually needs. That's not even getting into all the new poorly-defined regulations that doctors have to follow, many of them contradictory in nature. In essence, it's the worst aspects of privatized and government subsidized health care systems rolled into one big mess. But they're not worried: they exempted themselves and can get whatever they want. That might not sound like a huge deal to you guys, but we don't have a "legistaltive sovereignty" clause in our Constitiution like the UK does. As far as Obama's foreign policy goes, might I remind you that these "reasonable" measures have cost us allies in the Middle East (namely Egypt who had been one of our closest allies over there) and gotten our Ambassador to Libya killed? Furthermore, the apologetic nature with which the President (who has yet to call the attacks in Benghazi as well as our embassies in several middle-eastern countries terrorism) will serve only to make groups like al-Qai'da bolder since they percieve such a response as weakness. Seriously, the video he blamed for the attacks had been out for a year and no one had really seen it. Now the terrorist groups are using it as a smokescreen/excuse/recruitment angle. And before you say "he didn't know", let me point out that protestors don't use little things like mortars or lead a multiple-wave military assault, nor do they attack several embassies in multiple countries simultaneously on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. And that's not even getting into the President spending more time trying to look cool on multiple TV shows instead of meeting with his EU counterparts to discuss ways to deal with that nice little financial crisis you lot are dealing with.

Yeah but he was staunch, strong-willed, honourable and military, and I'm.... English and romantic.
I mean I'm not exactly sure these descriptions are inaccurate, but they made me a little bit sad. ;D

You guys have truly no idea how rational meironmaiden is. If you want to see insane, you should have witnessed all the assassination and "south will rise again" comments that are made in my neck of the woods. Also, he's a libertarian, Gorvar, not Republican. If anything, it scares the shit out of me how divided the nation has become.

I think I should acknowledge that being compared to Romantic-era writers is a great compliment in every way.

Well considering I've been compared to Vulcans for a significant portion of my life, it's safe to say I believe in rationality and logic. ;D Now... here's something that should prove enlightening. This is a county-by-county breakdown of the voting in the election. Red is Romney, Blue for Obama.
