Arya's hysterical laughter makes sense from both an character arc/narrative point of view. Hell if Max Payne can break down i cant see why Arya cant. Also i am glad that Sansa from the show is finally growing some spine, I hope book sansa will do that when book 6 comes out. As for the final scene...well, it popped my eyes open. It blew my mind. I found it teeth shattering....yeah i'm done.

I think you're overthinking Arya. Well "it's so stupid we might as well laugh" is a part of it, I think the predominant cause was the look on the Hound's face. I am not overthinking Arya. As I said in my own post, after the shit she's been through, hysterical laughter would be a very understandable response. It's not a matter of "it's so stupid we might as well laugh", it's a matter of losing control of emotions after hearing that yet another family member who was supposed to be a safe haven is now gone. Sort of an "I can't win for losing" kind of situation. But of course, it's all a matter of interpretation. You think what you want, and I will interpret it how I see it. Everyone's opinion is allowed to be different. Although I will say the look on Sandor's face was rather amusing from an audience perspective.

But... Arya has total control over her emotions. She channels it all into rage. It's like her defining characteristic. That's why I thought her outburst was at the absurdity of it all. Kind of like the old man at the end of "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"

Arya does not have total control over her emotions. Nobody has total control over their emotions. I'd be concerned about the psychopathy / sociopathic nature of anyone who claimed to have 100% total control over their emotions. Emotions are what defines us as humans.
In the books (which, granted, are being deviated from a bit - but still...) and in the show both she suppresses her emotions nearly conmpletely, but there are times when the cracks show - like her killing the Frey men bragging about the Red Wedding in the show in the last episode of S3. There was no real control there, and she would have been killed if The Hound hadn't been there to back her up. She lost it and attacked the men bragging about killing her family. And in the books, in the chapters after she goes to Braavos and begins training in the House of Black and White, she loses herself nearly completely into the disguises she takes on, but in her narrations you can see (well, maybe you can't - but I know I can) that she has a tenuous hold at best, and is losing her mind.
I just recently read a Teaser Chapter from "The Winds of Winter" in which Arya finally gets to kill another name on her Hit List - kind of an important one, too... and her narration indicates that she is coming close to losing herself and forgetting who Arya Stark is... she seems like she's lost her mind.
And finally, Arya is a little girl. In the show, she's maybe 12... in the books, she's only 9 or 10 by the time she's in Braavos. Any semblance of 'control' a child of that age would have in situations like she's been through would be extremely delicate, at best.
Also, I never said her laughter was not a response to the absurdity of it all, in fact, "the absurdity of it all" is exactly what I was saying was the case! The absurdity that she's gone through so much and it seems like it will never end... the absurdity of every hint of respite being yanked out from under her just as she gets there...
And this is why I wonder why I even bother to explain my interpretations of things anymore, because clearly no one pays attention to what I am actually saying.

Play nice children or else we are going to have a trial by combat.

Then I might as well just skip the whole "naming of a champion" thing, since no one would fight for me.
Where's that ship to Volantis, and how do I get passage on it?
BTW - I was playing nice. Not my fault if people misinterpret what I say and tell me I'm 'overthinking things' when I'm just stating an opinion.

I think we're saying the same thing here. I said she only vents her emotions in rage. You said she only loses control sometimes. And we agree that she's laughing at absurdity.
Though Arya is about the closest thing the Starks have to their own psychopath.

You said she had complete control over her emotions, channelling it into rage.
That is not the same thing as losing control of her emotions on occasion.
So no, we are not saying the same thing. Aside from the agreement about laughing at absurdity.

Well, one thing's for sure, the sycthe was released. I like to imagine the release being a button that says "Break Glass in case you just wanna say "Fuck this." And Sam was fucking B/A in this one! He didn't turn into Rambo, he was still Sam, he knew his limits, but he took initiative and kicked ass being the number one steward! And poor Jon. Yggrite's going to that big jacquzi shag cave in the sky, waitin' for Jonny. Glad she got to say her famous condencending catchphrase one last time or I'd be dissapoint. That aside, there sure were a lot of crossbows in this episode. I'm quite sure we won't see any during this season's finale. No sir.

That aside, there sure were a lot of crossbows in this episode. I'm quite sure we won't see any during this season's finale. No sir. Ooh, I'm so excited to see how the show portrays the next parts of Tyrion's story, and his use of The Crossbow! Also, Sam is bad-ASS! "Pyp! Open the fuckin' gate!" " I never heard you curse before..." "Yes... well... better get used to it!" Sam, Sam, Sam! You awesomely gorgeous and wonderful bad-ass! Sam the Slayer all the way, baby! "I know there's no women allowed..." "Anyone tries to throw you out will be havin' words with me!" Sam! * ahem* Sorry about that, I just may have developed a minor character-crush on Sam... Oh, and one more thing... BIG DAMN KISS!!! I love Sam and Gilly, I really really do... On to a sadder point... poor Pyp... And good lord, Styr is a BIG man! Either that, or Jon Snow is a tiny man... but either way - what a size difference!! This was a sad episode... also, confusion - as I know certain Brothers of the Night's Watch who didn't survive this episode are still around in the book "A Dance With Dragons"... Back to happy thoughts - Sam and Gilly! Kissing! Oh, they're just so cute... *beat*I'm such a girl sometimes...
