Director's Cut. Now With A Semi-Coherent Ending. Okay, so what do you all think of this - released today? blog.bioware.com/2012/04/05/mass-effect-3-extended-cut/-- I'm pretty pleased - it sounds like what I want. Just a handful of explanatory extra scenes thrown in there, hopefully clearing up a few issues, without changing it completely. I expect a lot of people would prefer a complete overhaul though? I'm curious to find out. What really bothers me however is the word 'Summer'. What was all that about it coming out in April? EDIT: I love how this statement addressed me as 'You - the fan.' I thought I was the only one left, but it's nice to have BioWare confirm that. -

Well, I think we all got our point across. I'm happy to hear that they are standing by their vision. I'm equally happy that they actually plan on helping us make sense of things. For free.
As for April, probably retake Omega DLC. It's hinted at strongly enough.

Yeah, you're probably right.
And I know our point came across. Throughout all of this, Bioware's reaction has seemed 'stunned' more than anything else.

Free DLC eh? Even Ea seems to be afraid of the fans now...for good reason.

I dunno. Where I come from 'free' means 'not very good'.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I think the announcement having come out today serves to calm things down tomorrow at PAX East. I want to be happy about it, but I'm also sceptical and I don't like the phrasing very much. Then again Bioware had really gotten themselves in a fix. A completely new ending (possibly incorporating the Indoctrination Theory) must be hard to pull off for a many reasons (one of which, I'm now thinking, is people barging in and claiming credit for the theory itself). On the other hand, the situation with the fans has gotten out of hand and they couldn't possibly leave it as-is. About the free = not very good equation: I hear you, Buch. But then again if they charged for the ending there would be a lot more screaming. Perhaps blood, too. Also, from what I read, this is not going to include more gameplay: just more cutscenes. Who in their right mind would pay 10 bucks for something they could just watch on youtube?

Thank God it's free, because as it stands, this: Has a more comprehensible and less irritating ending, and that is saying a lot.

The death of one of the main characters is explained in Revelations DLC.

I know, and the explanation was stupid. It was a stupid DLC.
I hope I'm not saying the same thing about Mass Effect 3: Uncut on the other side of Summer.
I can't say I'm too enthusiastic about the thought of other DLC packs, either. With the unchanged ending looming over it all, it would be like trying to enjoy a party with the knowledge that the guests will bury your body under the house at the end of the night.

This is pretty much what I thought they would do, although it's refreshing to see that they had the sense to make it free.
I don't know what to think about this. I can't see this making the ending good, so I'm just hoping it will make it bearable... at least.
But we'll see.

Awesome! I love how they are saying they're fixing the ending w/o destroying the original vision of it blah blah blah. Whatever, so long as they fix it. And I still get to write about Bucky the Starchild!
Did anyone else follow the link at the link to the press release? The "FREE" thing? Only until 2014, then we're paying for it.
