Yep. A lot of people on this board (me foremost) have given this game a lot of Negativity and Hate. So I decided to create this thread to balance it out.
To get the ball rolling. I liked how you could gain the Arishok's respect by being forthright with him. It reminded me of talking to Sten in Origins a little, but it was different enough that it didn't feel like a copy/paste in the script. I sometimes had to stop myself from imagining "+1 Reputation with Arishok" flashing across the bottom of the screen.

No matter how annoying the incessant re-spawning enemies may be, they really kept me on my toes and offered a lot of new strategies on where to position my party and fight off the hordes. It became a "watch-your-ass" situation and sometimes even made me wonder if Hawke and the crew were going to go down Wild Bunch style if I screwed up.
Sure, it sounds like I'm just "looking on the bright side of things" rather than citing an awesome moment, but I sort of looked at the respawning goons that way from the beginning, even if they got terribly annoying later on.

It's really hard for me to see the good/awesome parts of DA2, even if I try to humor myself and think of a few. Every time I try to think of any, I get blinded by the little message form like Alan Wake with a blank page. It's like if someone dropped me off in Uganda; I could find some bright spots and upsides, but I'd still be in Uganda.
That said - *shiver* - though I'll miss some of the strategy involved with DA:O's combat system, the new system (now that it's been patched up some) is pretty enjoyable.
I liked having a house (even though you couldn't do anything with it); I loved that Bodahn and Sandal returned for the sequel (Loved that! They were easily my favorite side-characters from DA:O); the changes they made to Flemeth were a welcome improvement (and Kate Mulgrew even stepped up her voice acting to a point where everyone else was put to shame); and I liked the mage/templar and Kirkwall/Qunari conflicts, though I really think they should have focused on one or the other, not both.
I also really liked being able to ask party members for advice when the topic concerned them in some way. I could call Anders over when there was magic involved, Aveline when it involved Kirkwall or the guards, etc. Even calling one of them for backup was awesome, like when that witch tries to make you cut your own throat.
*Whew!* But it's just... waaaaay too hard for me to defend DA2 in any way, and, sorry, I won't keep clogging up this thread with gripes. They just committed way too many slights against DA:O, their own standards, and what I look for in RPGs for me to look past its faults like I do with Alpha Protocol. Obsidian had good reason for putting out a rushed product, BioWare didn't.
I like Two Worlds 2 better than Dragon Age 2. Genuinely.
I'll shut up now. xD

Meh... I like the Aveline quest where you have to try and help her woo her man.
Apart from it, not much. It's Mediocre enough that I won't bother write a letter to my mum about it. >.>

"Oh Maker, she's really BAD at this."

I really hate to say this, but this is probably the only quest that was well written. Just enough that it still has a tiny glimmer of BioWare's writing before it got drowned by the rest of the mediocre crap.

What I've done here is kidnapped Mr Glow and then hypnotized him. I've actually been made Tranquil, like those villainous Templars did to the dashing Anders' friend Karl. One thing I liked was Hawke showing a bit of emotion during "All That Remains"

Hmmm... Yeah the last part of "All that Remains" is good and I like the animation they did work on it.
Still, I wish I had the option to tell Leandra to stay away from creepy old guys who offer white lilies.

Very nice. ;D - I honestly wouldn't call much 'awesome' in Dragon Age 2, but there were a lot of bits I really liked: Aveline's romance quest as mentioned above, Hawke's sadness in All That Remains, Varric's superman behaviour in the scene where they find his brother with the idol. I also loved losing Bethany / Carver in the Deep Roads, and how it could happen in three different ways, each with various emotional consequences. I liked having to make that call - send them to the Wardens where they will resent me forever, let them die and have my mum hate me, or have them taken prisoner / become my enemy at the Templars. It was pretty neat. I also liked how everyone had a house to go to for their character scenes, and those scenes were usually funny (if short and linear) - it felt like a sitcom, which was kind of fun.

If DA2 was sitcom, this game would redeem itself.
Alas, it's a poor man's version of "Song of Fire and Ice" they are aiming for...

If DA2 was sitcom, this game would redeem itself. Alas, it's a poor man's version of "Song of Fire and Ice" they are aiming for... I thought it was gonna be like a sitcom, too! During Act 1, I kept imagining Act 2 would just be Hawke sitting in her estate arguing with everyone, with Carver popping round for a glass of sherry, Niles Crane style. Anyway, one good thing about Legacy was the dialogue between Carver/Bethany and all the other companions (and the fact Varric got to work "swooping is bad" into a conversation with Merrill). I was surprised BioWare went to the effort of recording seperate Act 1/Mage/Templar/Grey Warden dialogue for both of them, too. And they got all of the companions back for more dialogue, which was impressive, especially for BioWare...

I admit, the effort is pretty good but the DLC is a little too pricey for my liking. I wait until they make a deal or they going to release some sort of DLC bundle pack... not sure.

I have never seen BiowEAr release a bundle pack for DLC that did not require buying a whole new copy of the game. The DLC is their honey pot. They are not going to give discounts on it any time soon.

Well then. I got two words to them about the legacy DLC. I don't care if it's decent but if it cost like 10 bucks and takes 2 hrs to get through...
Bugger off.
