I never have any shortage of things to post in the ' Crappy moments in gaming' thread on this site, so I've decided to make this thread to balance all the negativity out. If you've got a favourite moment from any game, be it a cutscene or gameplay, just post here. To get the ball rolling: Screw pushing guys out windows or causing massive fuel explosions, Assassin's Creed II had an interrupt that let you hug Leonardo Da Vinci! Best moment in the entire game! (beating up The Pope comes a close second.)

Great idea! I should say: Awesome Idea. Just before I quit World of Warcraft for the first time, my friends and I decided to 3-man Onyxia, this crazy ass dragon that used to require a 25-man raid to take it down pre-BC. Before the dungeon got patched, it took 5 players or three really good players to take it down. We weren't expecting to win, and we ended up dying three or four times before we finally got the fight down. It actually took longer than it should have, since Onyxia flies up and attacks from above for the last 2/3 of the battle. Being a rogue, I just sat back for a while and watched my friends whittle her life down. It wasn't until fifteen minutes into it when my friend discovered you could melee her from the ground, so I immediately jumped in. It was pretty funny. Anyway, this dragon battle took us about 30 minutes before we finally killed it. We got the achievements for it and had our names shouted out in Orgrimmar, which was awesome. Great memory from one of my last days playing. Here's a picture I took of my friends trying to take it down:

That is a great idea for a thread! I would have to menion several moments from Bioware games - the big twists in KotOR and Jade Empire, mainly - the difficult choice at the end of Dragon Age 1. And I would even mention the reunion with Liara in the 'Shadow Broker' DLC in ME 2 - I just adored that whole quest. Maybe I should leave Bioware out of it, though Just one - Jade Empire and KotOR are just made of awesome moments, with combat connecting them. --- And I still find this moment hilarious, and the end music very moving:

The game moment that sticks the most with me remains with the Marine player mission in Aliens Vs Predator 2. When you have to go down into the hive to find your missing squad-mates, and then subsequently escape (and be pursued)... well, it's the only time I've had to get up, walk away from the screen and calm myself down.

LOL. I have to do that all the time. I'm the verbal equivalent of that guy on the gamefly commercials.

When I was little, I once went out to a farm belonging to a friend of my family. It was closing in on midnight, darkness in all directions, we were out in the middle of nowhere...and my stepbrother thought it was a good idea for me to experience a Resident Evil game for the first time. He booted up RE2, and I could swear I got so scared I nearly went catatonic.
Long story short: I've been a fan of the series ever since. xD

The first time I played Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines there is a section in where you have to work your way though a haunted hotel. That had to be one of the most creepy and brilliantly designed levels ever. It scares the crap out of you without ever really putting you in danger. Very awesome.

I'm with Ommadawn on this one. The mission in Alien vs Predator 2 where you're in the infested colony searching for Sergeant Hall is one of the scariest and best designed missions in FPS history. The buildup, as well as the latter part of the mission where you have to flee legions of endless aliens were spot on.
Since I've been playing Morrowind almost nonstop lately (my disc was scratched so I got it on Steam). One of the most awesome moments in gaming for me was infiltrating Kogoruhn, an allegedly "abadoned" dark elven stronghold, which had been taken over by the Sixth House. It just felt like you were actually some guy, alone, going inside a fortress full of twisted people and hellish monsters. Kind of like Castlevania, only with more immersion... and elves...

I've mentioned it before, but Leliana's song (the actual song, not the DLC) absolutely amazed me when I heard it the first time. I was just having a conversation at the end of the Dalish elves quest, looking to wrap-up my play session for the day, when suddenly Leliana starts singing. And it's a very, very good song, and perfectly placed, as it happenned, in my game (this was right before the final act). I was speechless. Kept playing for hours

The bad lip syncing kinda let it down. Let's face it, Leliana did NOT look like she was singing.
The song is beautiful though, and I hear it was composed and recorded in only a few days.
I like the way your other party members react to it as well. Morrigan scoffs, Alistair is kinda inspired, Mr. Dogson barks, and my favourite, Sten just looks quietly stirred.
Great moment.

Agreed about the lip syncing and the party reactions. I also have to say that I'll probably be naming my mabari "Mr. Dogson" on my next playthrough. That's awesome. =D
That moment was great. Took me by surprise and blew me away. For some reason, one of my favorite parts in Dragon Age was when Alistair and I were thrown in jail for being Grey Wardens. Waking up in my underwear and still having the ability to pick the lock, break out, and rejoin my party without anyone being the wiser was awesome.
That part made me feel like a talented SOB and the immersion factor was ramped up. I still have no idea why exactly, but I was smiling the entire time.

The quest 'Agatha's Song' in Fallout 3. A lot of games nowadays (especially New Vegas) have 'ambigous morality' and all that, but there's just something I like about doing something as unambigously good as helping a old widow find a violin and bring classical music back to the wasteland.

That does sound good. I never found her, sadly.

I had actually found her violin at random whilst exploring a Vault, so imagine my surprise when I found her and all she wanted was a violin. Her reaction was awesome.
