Awwww, yeah. That makes it an insta-buy for me.
I'm wondering if it'll do away with the ending, or if one of them will at some point. Like Broken Steel did.

Obsidian have already said they don't plan to do that. Really, I'm alright with that. They'd have to trivialise the different endings of the game. (I mean, it can end with Caesar retreating, capturing the entire Mojave, both sides getting killed by you or House. Or the player can choose to destroy the dam, taking out the strip's power supply.)
Did you play Dead Money? There was a thing I liked in that, it basically had a shorter version of the ending slideshow, telling you what happened to all your companions and stuff. I thought it worked well, and wouldn't mind seeing it in the rest of the DLC.

I still have to play Dead Money. I shied away from it after I read some mixed reviews, but I've been really curious about it lately. Plus, it's Fallout. Can't be too bad.
I will admit, Broken Steel didn't do too much for the ending of Fallout 3. "Trivializing" is the key word there, you're right, but I don't think the ending to New Vegas wasn't as... impactful? You assist your faction at the dam and then it just sort of ends. It didn't really feel like a good ending to me; it just felt like a good place to leave off in the Courier's story.
Hurm... gonna go reinstall New Vegas. I've been itching to play it. =D

Dead Money is actually really good. Chris Avellone returned to write for it, and it really does show, mostly in the super mutant companion you pick up.
One thing I liked about it was that what you said in conversations actually mattered. Like there's one character who you meet near the start, and you can act flippantly towards them, which they don't care for. Later on in the DLC, they remember, and to understate it a bit, aren't best pleased.
I'd say it was better than any of Fallout 3's linear DLCs (Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout and Mothership), but it was rather short.

The trailer for Honest Hearts has just been released. (Our little Harbinger's all grown up and has converted to Mormonism, apparently...)

It is very good. I found it to be a lot more narrative/character driven than any of Bethesda's DLC, which pretty much amounted to "new weapons here" or "cool levels here" in the case of Point Lookout.
More good news on the upcoming DLC, too. Chris Avellone, shining bastion of awesomeness that he is, has compared Zion National Park (and the Big Empty, but that's another story) to Point Lookout, mentioning it's similarly open world. You also get to keep any weapons you bring to Utah, unlike when you got stripped of your gear in the beginning of every other Fallout DLC (excluding Point Lookout)

The writing here is absolutely amazing. The characters are great and the whole thing is playing out like some kind of litmus test for greed. Like when Christine asks why you came to the Sierra Madre, I had to stop and think about it for a second. I bet, somewhere in my mind, I was thinking about the loot that was probably lying around. It was kinda crazy.
Like... yeah, maybe I do belong in this situation, lol.

Just finished "Dead Money." That was one superb piece of DLC. Gave me the chills when it was all over.
And just as I quit for the night, "Honest Hearts" is up on the Xbox Marketplace now. Jeeeeze.

It's definitely very underrated, too. What sort of ending did you get? (There isn't much actual variance, but what happened to your companions?)
I loved all the DLC sequel hooks, too. There was even a challenge for them.
I need some microsoft points, stat.

There was even a challenge for them. I need some microsoft points, stat. I ended up "merging" Dog/God, so I guess he went off to wander the Wasteland. I helped Christine ease up on her revenge thing (even though I missed why she was after Elijah in the first place), and she stuck around the Sierra Madre to keep an eye on it, ended up being accepted by the ghost people. Dean Domino, I totally killed him. Kinda tried to talk him out of it, since I wasn't sure I wouldn't be exploded in the process, but I think he got what was coming to him. His ending talked about how his hologram lived on at the stage after all of the lights in the Sierra Madre went out. That part really got to me for some reason. Really haunting. I was actually really sad to leave the Sierra Madre behind but, honestly, I think they did the right thing by not allowing people to go back. Can't put my finger on why, but I think it would have spoiled the atmosphere it had maintained through out the add-on. In all, yeah, two thumbs up from me. It may be my favorite add-on out of all of them, I think. The writing was just insanely good. The themes were deep, the characters were fantastic, and the ending was just... sad. Finding out the purpose of the vault and everything. Aw. Started Honest Hearts last night, and it's off to a good start. =D

Finished Honest Hearts. I don't feel like it was better than Dead Money, and it seemed A LOT shorter, but I do like that I can go back there whenever and explore. And it also progressed the "War of the Couriers" subplot rather decently, so there's that. Really interested to see how that turns out.
