For those who want a different kind of writing challenge, they ask that you write 100 words (and exactly 100 words) a day, every day (except one) for 30 days. I think you have to wait until the first of the month to join in to write (edit: I re-read the rules. You at least have to wait until the first of the month to start writing). www.100words.com/about.php

Oh, this looks nice -- thanks for sharing! Who's joining? We could make a local thread of our takes if enough of us do.

Hmm! next month is a really busy, hectic month for me....
But I really like the sound of this. I think I will join.

I can probably do this. November's out since I signed up for NaNoWriMo, and we all know how Decembers usually get. So yeah, I'll have a go in October.

Great find, Chantress. I'm really looking forward to this now. I'll do October too.
After reading a bunch of random entries on the site, I wish it were 200 or 300 words. It won't be easy to get something meaningful in such a short passage.

Eh, they aren't going for quality. It's really a challenge in discipline more than anything else. They do say that there are those who just post drunken babbling to get their daily 100 words in, and it's not like we're being graded or even critiqued on this.
I still haven't signed up for it yet, but I'll do that a couple of days before the October batch starts.
So we're up to... 3 people for this now? Or 4?

That'll be great - for the bunch of us to have a go at this at once. I'm looking forward to seeing what we all do with the odd challenge.
I'm very excited about this, for some reason! I already have a list of possible ideas. Coming up with 31 very short pieces that are all different and all worth reading will be tricky.

Okay, for those of us who haven't yet figured out WTH we'll be writing every day next month ... nah, I kid. I'll post here again before the next batch starts, to remind those interested to sign up on or before October 1 if they haven't already done so. I'll also make a list of who's volunteering for this then too (in case it grows, shrinks, whatever).

October? Yeah...that's sounds kinda fun, especially if there's a support group going on. I love flashfiction. Something meaningful can sooo be done in 100 words.
Does the website restrict it to original fiction?

There don't seem to be restrictions besides word length (100 words exactly). Some write verse, some write fiction, heck you could probably write nonfic too from what I've seen.

Something meaningful can sooo be done in 100 words. I'mma prove you wrong, 31 times. Yes as far as I'm aware the only restrictions are - 1) Precisely 100 words per entry, and 2) One entry per day without fail. Also they ask you not to prepare any in advance. I think you could get away with fanfic... not sure but I think that'd be all right. I've been reading the site, and I've seen short bits of fiction, poetry, and a lot of blog type things.

Me either, but if I can pull poems out of my brain in 25 minutes before class twice in a row, I can probably still do this. Besides, given how much verbal diarrhea I spew here, 100 words a day can't be THAT hard for me to write!
