Umm... oh dear lord... I'm confused... Can anyone here picture Megan Fox as April O'Neil ? Now, I like Megan Fox - she's a beautiful woman, and I think she's a good actress, but... seriously?? April O'Neil? I won't claim to be the most knowledgable of TMNT fans (not even a fan, really, I only have vague memories of TMNT from long-lost childhood), but April O'Neil wasn't exactly a sexpot, was she? She was the average girl-next-door cuteness but not the sultry beauty, right? I'm confused... Also, Michael Bay is doing TMNT - didn't he and Megan Fox have a famous falling-out where they bashed each other's reputations??

Actually April O'Neill is considered a big sexual sort of thing for guys who used to watch the cartoon. In the movie this was not persued, but in the cartoons she was pretty hot and she now has a reputation as being a sex icon.
That said --- Megan Fox is going to play April O'Neil.

I see... maybe my memories of Ms. O'Neil are tinged with the innocence of an uncorrupted child...
I stand corrected?

Damn right. The April attraction is pretty widespread, honestly. I for one fancied her at the time and it has only gotten stronger since then. And according to the Google image search I just did, I'm the healthiest one. --- And really - as a pretty huge Turtles fan, I'd just like to scream and punch the walls once again at this news that the fun, girl-next-door, redhead news reporter is going to be played by Megan Fox in a bloody Michael Bay movie. I like Transformers, I like Indiana Jones... but this is something else here. I love the Turtles.

April's attractiveness was played on a bit in the movies. Look at the Turtles drooling over her in the first movie. And then again in the third.
To quote TMNT III
Donnie: "Hey! A leg-o-rama!"
April: "I'm allowed, I'm on vacation.
Leo and Donnie: "Absolutely! SCHWING!!"

Ehhhhh.... It's a very minor point to disagree on, especially by our standards, but I disagree. The turtles' attraction to her way played up for comedy purposes, and Casey falls in love with her in a romantic subplot, but she was never really presented to the *audience* as a sexual object or a desirable character. She isn't ever pouting or dressed in tight clothes - I know it's aimed at kids but so are Megan Fox's two Transformers movies and look how she is depicted there - and April is very 'human' and emotional and flawed, and she is the character who drives the plot in the first movie. She's not there to be pretty, and in the cartoon she almost literally was there just for that. Plus at the risk of sounding like a pig, the actress in the films wasn't all that 'hot'. She was pretty, a hell of a lot prettier than me -- but not like a model kind of pretty. She wasn't the 'sexy female character' in the movies, she was the 'human link to the turtles and plot mover'. The turtles fawned over her a couple of times just for the sake of comedy and characterisation, not as a cue to the audience.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. April's actress wasn't a drop dead gorgeous supermodel, which is fitting for the character. She's supposed to be "girl next door" pretty, not "HOLY SHIT, SHE'S HOT" pretty. Plus she wasn't completely useless in the movies: she held her own at times and even managed to win a couple ambushes (see the climatic fight in the first one where she's hiding in the roof of the sewer den and she's using one of Donnie's spare staffs to knock out foot members when Mikey lures them into position).

Yeah, exactly. And that was nice, becaus in the cartoon she was there to A) have cleavage and B) get captured every other week. So it was particularly nice in the movie that Splinter was the one who got captured, no-one at all was a sex object and April was essentally the protagonist rather than the reward. That movie really is a great film!

One member of my writing group read part of a "TMNT" fanfic piece tonight that is far better than whatever Michael Bay is going to produce. "Middle Aged Mutant Ninja Turtles", to be precise. It's not done yet, but I do hope she finishes it. It would be cool to see something like that in a theater instead of yet another damn remake.

I always like to see the turtles when they grew up and had different lives. Brothers apart kind of thing.

That was hilarious. xD
I'm sure the game will be awful just because it's movie-licensed, but still I hope not. I'd love a decent Star Trek game.
