I agree with you Buch, I'm slightly disappointed with the romance element in ME2. It's not as natural as ME1 or Jade Empire in a sense. Or maybe I was wishing for a realistic interaction like in Me1, if you romance both Kaidan/Ashley and Liara at the same time, you get a hissy fit confrontation from them. I've haven't tried it but so far what I've read in the ME2 wiki page, the confrontation wasn't there and the character dialogue go through the motions... pretty awkward let's just say.
As for the Tali picture, I haven't clicked on her. not because I'm a fan of her. I'm pretty neutral when it comes to her. But it's just that from what you guys said, it's going to haunt my dreams. I've already struggling to cleanse my brain with Brain Bleech from a short story I've come across on the net the other day... it's digusting and leave it at that.

Figured this video belonged in this thread, since "What in the hell is this?" was pretty much my reaction. Eerily good ME cosplayers incoming:

Knight... of all things you have to show, it had to be ME cosplayers! D:
Ok, I have a friend who likes cosplayers, fair enough. But still... cosplay can be really scary sometimes for me.

This guy intends to go to PAX as Garrus. The mask looks a bit weird but that gun looks just like the real alien sexgod's!
Also, I'm a few months late, but I definitely think Tali has no hair. No other race but humans do!

It would make sense. 300 years of a species living in suits, after all (and they might well have not had it even before then). What if they looked a lot like the geth? (Oh, I hear Talimancers getting ready to lynch me now!) At least this isn't a debate about turian/human interspecies "relations". Good gravy, that debate went on for nearly ten freaking pages with the same handful of people going on about it!

Ugh... don't get me started on the Talimancers on the BioWare forums. Nothing personal but they creep me out.
Don't worry, there's no Talimancers in this forums... none that I've seen here so far according to my Talimancer radar.
And let's not talk about the turian/human relationship... in that way you mention. I know I'm being a little hypocritical about it, since I'm writing a Shepard/Garrus fic, but personally I wish people see romance does not always equal to "that" all the time.

Oh, I know what you mean. It's just that, when the thread "went there" and it got ugly, I realized, "Okay, I'm still a Garrus fangirl, but I don't think I belong here anymore 'cause I've had my rabies shots." Don't get me wrong, I'm not scared of smut, but... yeah, there's more to a relationship than "OMG SEXX0RS!" (or however the hell you spell it. I never could do "l33t speak". Ever). My Shepards are so freaking screwed up (especially Kendra) that I keep asking, "Who the hell would really be willing to put up with their sh*t?" Then I see other authors go pair their "train wreck emo Shepards" with Garrus and they seem to think, "Oh hey, their having sex will fix everything." Wow, really?! Garrus is a loyal guy and all, but....
I think "Modus Operandi" is one of the very few Shepard/Garrus fanfics I've read where the sex was the very last thing they got around to doing (and even then, it wasn't all that smutty), and that was after they'd already been through hell together.
Edit: My main gripe about smut was more about ff.net. Not looking to bash, cheers. Sorry, I really need to choose my words better sometimes.
I've seen enough disturbing things from the Tali thread that I just stay far, far away.

It doesn't sound like I'm missing much by avoiding the Bioware boards, then.

It doesn't sound like I'm missing much by avoiding the Bioware boards, then. there are a few worthwhile discussions going on there but it is pretty much overrun by trolls right now. I go there a bit to discreetly feed them and then slink back over here when they go nuts. It's keeping me busy while I wait for my physio appointment.

I've prefer the old BioWare forums, that's the honest truth sadly. The newer ones kinda reminds me of the official WoW forums a little too much.
To be fair in my PoV, the Garrus Thread seem to be tamer than I thought it would be, given one of the most popular shipping fics in pre ME2 were Garrus/Shepard over at ff.net, I was expecting the craziness as Tali. However, the Kaidan Thread... ugh! That's another story, let's just say I almost wanted to stab my eyes out with my chopsticks after a few posts over there, it's just as bad as the tali thread imo. I like Kaidan as well, but I'm not that obsessed or sadistic to the point I killed the LI in ME2 for revenge or something.
I've heard in a another thread that you have a beef with "Mary Sue" Shepards. I hear you, Chantress. Although I hate writing about emo Shepards for some reason, maybe is due to being a granddaughter military brat, that I've find the emo stuff is unrealistic for someone that is been harden as a militant soldier. I can see Shepard as an Iron Woobie and that's it.
Although I'm willing to plead guilty for having one of my Shepard having pale skin in White Rose, I'm not going to plead guilty for deconstructing the "Bastions of Humanity" Trope. I'm sure Shepard has skeletons in her closest.
I haven't read Modus Operandi yet, I might going to in the future.
EDIT: I've just realised something. You know, people seem to obsessed with "porcelain white skin" for some reason. I've wondered if the Twilight craze got involved into this popularity fad of having "pale skin" scheme?
Also describing "porcelain white skin" seem a little creepy or stupid to me at times. If they referring to porcelain as dolls, I cannot helped but think how creepy those dolls to the point of the uncanny valley. (Think of Big Baby from Toy Story 3...)
The other reason why I find it silly at times is that, when I think of porcelains... I think of bathrooms. So.. yeah.

Just wanted to say before I have to go to work (ugh) that "porcelain skin" seems to be Twilight- related, IMO. Either that, or the authors want to have an albino Shepard. (Kidding! Nothing wrong with albinos, but I'm pretty sure that's not what the authors are going for.) Oh and I'm not a fan of emo Shepards either. (Most of my family is current or ex-military.) But from what I've seen of fanfics, female Shepards are either Mary Sues or emo Sheps. My own Kendra Shepard is trying to be more like... Eccleson's Doctor, I guess, but she can't time travel. (Not a perfect analogy but I really need to get out of here and get driving. ) I also noticed that emo Shepards are way more likely to be written into situations where "sex will fix them" (and it's usually with Garrus. I have no idea why). Right. Gotta go.

"Porcelain white skin" is a very old fashioned standard of beauty that dates back to Elizibethean times in Europe and probably further back in parts of asia. Hell it might even go back to Roman times where lead infused makeup was used to give the impression that the lady in question has never seen sunlight. That's right ladies a suntan was considered ugly in the old days because it implied that the lady had been doing something other than sitting in a pretty room somewhere looking pretty.
With the former in mind I am not too surprised that a Mormon writer is using such old fashioned nonsense in her descriptions of her own repressed sexual fantasies.(if it was not obvious enough I was referring to Twilight there.)
