Kotaku is semi-speculating that EA sort-of just announced a Mass Effect 3 release window today. It's certainly not the 2012 date that I thought it was going to be, and it would coincide with the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic and the second Dragon Age. Then again, they might just be talking about some DLC or another one of those silly iPhone games. Not sure, myself! =/ kotaku.com/5467071/ea-something-far+reaching-coming-from-mass-effect-in-2011

Interesting... it could be ME3 for sure.
My money is on either a big DLC for ME2, or else some silly nonsense like that iPhone game they did.

I'm going to remain blindly optimistic and assume that we'll see Mass Effect 3 next year. It'll coincide with Bioware's two other games, and I'm sure EA will want money enough to run The Old Republic for a while. That would be amazing if we get to wrap this trilogy up that soon, but yeah...might just be Pinnacle Station Redeux.

Very interesting. Could very well be ME3. They may have been working on the story for ME3 while still finishing up 2. I really do hope it's not just some stupid iPhone game. A DLC could be okay, depending on the scale of it, but I'd much prefer it to be ME3 Also, the little link at the bottom of that article has me very intrigued too. They are definately going to continue making ME games after the trilogy is over. I wonder how well it could convert to an MMO...

Also, the little link at the bottom of that article has me very intrigued too. They are definately going to continue making ME games after the trilogy is over. I wonder how well it could convert to an MMO... I'd say it would translate very, very well. You'll have no shortage of races, great locations, a "magic" system, a variety of classes and weapons. Depending on how Bioware handles The Old Republic, I would love to see a Mass Effect MMO. They might have to tone back the graphics considerably, but still.

Yeah. I would absolutely love to get to play as the other ME races. I would love for there to be a Mass Effect MMO. But, as you said, we need to see how they handle The Old Republic first, and also how well it is received. If not many like it, I doubt they will attempt to make a Mass Effect MMO so... here's hoping the Old Republic is amazing!

I think a Mass Effect MMO would be a great idea, too. More novels would be good too. The ME Universe has such a wealth of potential. That must be why the fanfic is so varied and generally such high quality.

I had a nightmare and thought... I'll go read a book then the wind blew against the window and I almost shit myself. You guys are the least scary thing for 7am but then you'va all made me enarly shit myself again.
MMO? Are you guys on drugs? That is the worst idea ever!
Oh and we listened to the Ascension novel. What a pile of wank. No audio book should take 3 weeks to listen to. And Fan ficiton? Varied!
Mass Effect Fan Ficiton: Thane sex Thane sex Kaiden sex Garrus sex Legion sex? Garrus sex Tali sex Tali and Legion sex? Shepard crying whilst Thane tries to have sex with her
Watchmen Fan ficton: Rorschach has sex with Dan Dan convinces Rorschach they should have sex Mary sue has sex with Rorschach Rorschach kills Spectre to have sex with Dan Random good fanfiction Rorschach gets an apprentice then has sex with her
BTW I am not back.

Uh yeah I'm going to have to agree with Zars on this. You guys must be on something to suggest a ME MMO. Please God don't let there be a ME MMO.
I'll say it's a interesting idea but no lets not go there.

Raspberries. I think a Mass Effect MMO would be great IF and ONLY IF they're able to make The Old Republic MMO work. This is me being hesitant but hopeful. TOR is an extension of my most favorite game of all time and I'm still not convinced--just hopeful. But, to me, an Mass Effect MMO (MEMMO?) makes much more sense; the races are more defined and the worlds are interesting. I'm already having fun running around the galaxy, why not make it more open and interactive?
And, yes, we need more ME novels that are not written by Karpy. We need more Bioware novels in general. They keep pulling their Lead Writers off of their projects to work on these things and the quality is never, ever as good as it could be. When you say in the foreword that "OMG I had so many deadlines, and the quality of this book might have suffered for it, but here you go" then maybe you should think about hiring writers who would love to have that job.

My God, it's Knighty. I love what you said about Karpyshyn's forewards. They all read like that.

I'd rather see a multiplayer spin off. Something like the Battlefield series. That way it can still be in the Mass Effect universe, but be separate from Shepard's story. And you can play as other races. I think a lot of people would groan when the hear Battlefield Mass Effect, but they'd love it after they play it.

Zars & Hodster: Mass Effect MMO is the worst idea ever? Care to elaborate?
I can understand why someone would be skeptical about having the ME universe turned into an MMO, seeing as how easy it could be to screw up. However, I believe Mass Effect the potential to be far better than many other highly succesfull MMOs. Very diverse and interesting alien races, interesting abilities that can be incorporated(biotics and tech abilities could transfer nicely to an MMO I think), tons of interesting planets/space stations, possibly a very interesting and involving plot (depending on when they set the MMO in relation to the trilogies timeline. Setting it in the same time as the trilogy probably wouldn't work so well, in my opinion).
However, as I siad, there is the possibility for failure in creating a Mass Effect MMO, but isn't that true of all games? Some of the most rediculous ideas have created extremely popular and fun games (a plumber who kills turtles and living mushrooms and gets bigger by eating mushrooms?).
I guess the main factor in showing whether or not a Mass Effect MMO could be great or terrible is The Old Republic. The first major Star Wars MMO (Galaxies) didn't end so well (inbalance between classes, tons of glitches, overly complicated, etc.) so if Bioware manages to be sucessfull with TOR, I think that would prove that they have the ability to create a sucessful Mass Effect MMO as well, if they ever decide too.

I myself would love to see a real time strategy game in the ME universe. I've been jotting down ideas for it, too.
