Probably, it's a Smashing Pumpkins song after all. Wait, the Smashing Pumpkins can actually kick ass? I may have to re-evaluate my opinion of that band since most of what I've heard from them pretty much sucked. I wouldn't bother really. That song was an anomaly. The very vast majority of their music remains very generic pseudo grunge/punk.

Also, there's an alternate, slower version that was eventually used for the Watchmen movie's trailer or something. I find it incredibly hilarious Batman and Robin and Watchman both used the same song.

Somewhat in keeping with Lily and Linders' theme, here's a song about the hell of WWI. Now this song is about Passchendele rather than Flanders, but it's very appropriate.

I freaking love that song.
There is just something about the voice of their singer that really captures the content of that music and it really shines in that song.

Sabaton is truly an amazing band. They can go from the epic nearly berserker fury of the D-Day Landings (Primo Victoria), to the desperation of Vietnam (Into the Fire), to the morose melancholy of WWI in "Price of a Mile". And when they do their metal tribute songs, they're just plain fun.

And apparently Iron Maiden did a song about Passchendale as well.

I remember that one.
That's another good one. The softer bits are creepy and the rest, well just good ol' fashioned metal.

Motorhead did one about the battle of the Somme. It's... well... it's fucking sad.

I saw the movie "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1" today, and was blown away by just how much they stepped up their game (pun not really intended ) for this movie after the first two films... the first two films ("The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire") were terrific, in my opinion, but this newest one really amped it up and showed the early horrors of a blossoming war and actually showed how propaganda can be used to influence public opinion and such... it was a great movie. I am absolutely in love with both Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Dormer, they are two of my favorite actresses, and it was pretty awesome to see Natalie Dormer in a role not based on a historical figure (Anne Boleyn in The Tudors) or the Game of Thrones expy of Anne Boleyn (Margaery Tyrell)... she is fantastic, and so beautiful, and I'm a little jealous of how well she rocked that half-shaved head hairstyle! So gorgeous... And as for Jennifer Lawrence, her performance in this movie just broke my heart - she put so much into it and there were parts where she didn't say anything, and the acting was all in her face and eyes, and it was amazing. Now, the reason I am talking about this movie here in the Music Thread is for this song: sung by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the movie, and this song has been stuck in my head running on incessant repeat ever since I left the cinema this afternoon. Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where they strung up a man They say who murdered three Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight At the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where the dead man called out For his love to flee Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight At the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where I told you to run So we would both be free Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight At the hanging tree Are you, are you Coming to the tree Wear a necklace of rope Side by side with me Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight At the hanging tree
