As relic, maybe. The same way people collect primitive weapons from the 18th century or so.
Mass Effect physics has made all 20th century weapons obsolete, plain and simple. As they have no mass effect acceleration for their bullets, they will not sufficiently damage any kinetic barriers. So, I couldn't say if the gun sucked or not, but in the 22nd century it will, heh.

Just saw a fic where someone's OC was using a .50 AE "Deagle" complete with Gold Tigerstriped finish and Thane not only approves of the choice, but praises the weapon as being a "fine piece of art worthy of a professional". I smell a Call of Duty player... Desert Eagles wouldn't even be around in Thane's time, would they? Highly unlikely outside of a museum. They never explained how a 20th Century weapon was in use during the ME timeframe. I can tolerate anachronistic weapons provided an explanation is given for those weapons' presence, such as Ian having his weapons on him when he got caught in the Mass Relay in my story. At least it's somewhat plausible.

Agreed. My main charry is currently carrying an HK91 with a P30 as a backup, but he's actively training (behind the scenes) to become proficient with ME weapons. Until he feels comfortable with them, though, he's managed to update his ammuntion to deal with the newer armors and relies on overloading to deal with shields.

He didn't time travel. He was captured and used by the Vorlons for centuries.

Mind, Babylon 5 has time travel, and it is confusing (way more so than Star Trek time travel), but it's limited to pretty much two instances. The second is a great double episode, though (and the first one a foreshadowing episode).
I just hope that will stay definitely out of ME. It doesn't fit at all, and I dislike the concept anyway.

I hope so too, otherwise the Reapers will use that exploit to kill Shepard while s/he was still a kid...

I thought Joker refered to the Matrix in that one. Let's be honest though, Star Trek: First Contact wasn't that bad of a film.

That fan fic link to the MEFF wiki... I couldn't even bear to start reading the first word. Why? The artwork is a dead give away that shit i going to break loose. Reminds me of Chris-Chan too much...
Also, if Cerberus have started start up a project called "Project Skynet", I'm seriously going to call my whole crew to hunt down TIM after wiping out the project.

Oh but the artwork gave me the impetus to treat it like an endurance challenge. How much can I read before the pain in my frontal lobe gets too strong? I did not get past the intro BTW.
