I got accepted into a diploma degree in Mass Media and Communications for this year. Currently waiting on the paperworks to fill out. That's awesome! Good luck and I hope you have fun!

Going back to work on a very part time basis. It still hurts to stand more than few minutes at a time. but I should be able to handle 3 or four hour shifts to start. Yes I have been out of work this long on the basis of my fractured ankle. It's astounding to me how long it has taken to heal up.

I got accepted into a Medical Administration Specialist program at a fantastic local college, and found out this morning that I also got approved for funding through the government so I can attend school and still have money coming in to cover living expenses while I am in school!
I am so excited about this, I don't have to ever work in a call center or any other anxiety-ridden place again!
Also, my mental / emotional health is vastly improved from the situation I was in after my nervous breakdown last summer; I no longer have panic attacks when I have to go out in public, and I am no longer feeling self-loathing and semi-suicidal!
All in all, my life is getting better!

Seconding this. She really is doing a lot better of late and this course will be a great turning point for her.
I think I need a change of vocation myself. It's still difficult for me to work more than few hours at a time and standing on this gimped up ankle of mine is really a chore. I'll have to find a weird combination of physical labor and frequent rests to keep both mind and body engaged.

I was thinking that a job as a courier or something would be good but the ones I can reliably do physically are demanding things I don't have.

Well, the thermal paste seems to have done the job on my computer. I feel as though I saved quite a bit on labour as the shop was going to charge me 80.00 to verify what I already knew and then take 5 minutes to smear 2.00 of thermal paste on my CPU.
As a side note, this has made me comfortable enough around that part of my machine to swap out my own CPU when the time comes.

I'm starting a new job at the end of the month. I was never able to quite hack going back to full-time hours at work after I mangled my ankle. The short hours were causing serious money problems.
So back to the call centre biz I go. But this time at leat I won't be dealing with petty complaints by retail customers trying to scam me. It will be dealing exclusively with corporate clients.
money is OK and it will tide us over until Lily gets out of school into her own better paying job.
I'm a little sad about leaving the current job, but only a little. Mainly I will miss some of the people and my Kitchen Manager.

First day of training today. 14 more before I start afflicting myself on unsuspecting customers. The software foundation of the system we use is downright ancient but not as primitive as it outwardly appears. It is blazing fast but also a little hard to read.
Most of what I'll be doing is setting up phone orders for corporate clients and tracking same and issuing account credits for errors and whatnot. The facilities there are legitimately nice and someone actually realized that excessively bright lights combined with staring at computer monitors all day lead to headaches and eye strain. So the major emphasis is on natural light with some soft supplemental light coming from above. Production floor is actually pretty quiet with decent sized personal workspaces. Very comfortable cafeteria with wifi. The wifi has suddenly become important as I have finally caved and got a wireless phone. I'm pretty far from home comparatively speaking so not having a reliable way to call home or a cab is not in the cards anymore.
I'll be getting all weekends off even after training. Only downside is that my shifts end at 9 PM. With a 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour bus trip home. I won't be slowly crushing my ankle any more though, so progress?

Welp. This is it. It's official. I'm going back to Uni to complete my bachelor degree. Not only I'm bypassing first year, due completing my diploma degree, but I still managed to pick up electives in creative writing.
So... despite I couldn't get into my first preference a year ago, I still got what I want in the end. Life is strange, ya know?

Well fuck. I'm acting a bit grouchy today. So here's some good news. One of my professors gave us an extension for the storyboard assignment. Which is very good, cause that means I can focus on the third session of the current table top game this week and my other assignment which is due in pretty soonish. And that assignment is hard cause it involves knowing about FOI.
