Caught it on The escapist. I should have posted it myself actually. After presiding over some of the nastier debacles in recent gaming history falling on his own sword was about the only thing he could do. WHen the Sim City thing fell to pieces (I am frankly astonished that that broken ass piece of shit was sold as is, from what I heard the people playing it right now should be paid to beta the fucking thing rather than be charged 60.00 for the privilege) this was pretty inevitable. Origin is broken, SWToR is hobbling toward breaking even though I am still placing long bets against that and their credibility is even lower than it was this time last year when in a fit of mind boggling stupidity gamers banded together to place them lower the PMCs and 3rd world country raping oil companies as the worst company in America.
This clown should go one further and use his last 2 years salary to bolster the shareholders he let down in the last 6 years.

Well, I've noticed that a some people are rejoicing the fact he's got the boot and Gamasutra were doing a lot of coverage about him and his time in EA, to the point that I've suspect that even the said site despises him. (EG: they were less subtle about their opinions in their articles about their subjective viewpoint than most articles.) www.gamasutra.com/view/news/188839/The_quotable_John_Riccitiello.phpThan again, I can't blame them though, since it's a game developer's site and these days, even the developers had an axe to grind with him and EA, especially the recent layouts and the closure of one of the BioWare's studio branch. www.gamasutra.com/view/news/187793/Dragon_Age_Legends_studio_BioWare_San_Francisco_closes__report.phpThe studio is minor but still, that spells enough trouble that the Edmotion branch would be up in the chopping block sooner or later if things aren't going so well. Anyway, back to that guy. Honestly, for me, it's too early to celebrate, since I get the feeling this new CEO would be just bad as that last guy or worse. Since EA still had some really nasty cooperate practices mindset in their company, hence I'm not too joyful about this yet, since I know there's more to come sadly.

Don't get me wrong. I don't feel as if there is suddenly going to be a change. This fellow is the fall guy. The next guy will be the same until he proves otherwise. CEOs are interchangeable and indistinguishable from each other in companies this big. Also I really don't think the industry can handle a titan like EA falling right now. It's fragile enough as it is. They have horrible business practices but are not the worst and they are a massive source of funding for (generic) games.

EA has entered a new phase of Damage control. www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/for-our-patient-and-amazing-mayors-a-free-pc-download-from-originThe gist is that people who have suffered through the debacle that was the launch of the new Sim City are getting a free copy of a game from a list provided. Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition) Bejeweled 3 Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition) Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition) Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition) Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition) Plants vs. Zombies SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition A couple of them are casual games a couple of others are turds they are trying to get rid of. And Dead Space 3 which is brand spanking new and fairly well received if not well bought. And Mass Effect 3. Too bad there is nothing in there about them finding a way to fix the glassbox engine which by the only objective reports I have been able to find is irrevocably broken.

Actually I like it too. But it's a pretty old and very casual game, some folks might take exception to that. Any olive branch is better than none, but I think the people who shelled out money for a Sim City game would like to get a functioning product. Very little word on that front yet.

How, pray tell, does one burn their hands with a video game?
There MUST be a story here.

Well sit right down and let me spin you a tale of ghosts, goblins, dragons, australian elven maidens and a handsome dinosaur knight....and a slimey english man with glasses stealing her away from me.
DAMN YOU BUCH, DAMN YOU RIGHT TO ENGLAND!
...
Short answer, he installed the game, tried to play it, didnt work, got really angry and threw up due to said anger. It was a good day. It was sunny.
