Chris Avellone is VERY active in the whole Kickstarter thing right now and Obsidian in general is putting resources in that direction. It's possible that we are seeing the soft cat footed steps towards change here. I would really love to see a platform other than Steam to get these games out though. They got a bit too much pull for my liking, as much as I like them, I don't like monopolies.

Agreed. Let's applease the gaming gods again, so that more inspiring upstarts such as Wasteland 2, get's it's chance and make a push for a new change in the industrry.
So... what of scarifices do make for this?

Goat perhaps? Or the ME1 disc. ME2 is pushing it and ME3 is a big no no. The last thing you want is to feel the wrath of the gods because they threw a fiery rage from the skies due to the endings.

So... what of scarifices do make for this? Well, an iguana on a stick ala Fallout, a cure light wounds potion from Icewind Dale and a fragment of the gaming code from any of the Shining Force games (what? they're awesome) all accompanied by a prayer to the great gods that are Sid Mier, Chris Avellone and Drew Kapyrshan. It needs to be during a lunar eclipse though.

Capcom did screw up the Resident Evil Franchise and their fighting games a few times though. Marvel vs Capcom 3 anyone?

I know, but this is a game that was well loved to the point of cult classic status. And it's an old school game with love from Clover Studios (before it got canned by Capcom).
So it's worth adding to the pile of ritiual.

Sometimes on this site I feel like one of those guys who denies the holocaust. I like the ending of Mass Effect 3. I don't hate Dragon Age 2. I hate Ryan Reynolds, Mel Gibson and Michael Bay. Do I just have my priorities wrong here?

Only about Micheal Bay and Mel Gibson I can agree with. Reynolds is a big meh for me, not worth my time to go hating him. Unlike that certain someone *cough*.
