No-one can.
But that's good - I did think he was genuinely annoyed there. You can only proposition a man's wife so many times before he spots you for the smooth-talking, sideburned, bohemian, sophisticated Englishman with the soul of a poet that you are.

True enough... but really, as far as I could tell (from his laughter) he was not annoyed. Plus, y'know, Atlantic Ocean between us and all... not like there's any risk of me wandering off - as stated before, I'd miss him too much. And he knows it. Wow - what a piece of knowledge to have over me, hm? ;D
And way to pump your own ego, there, my darlin'! So... smooth-talking, sideburned, bohemian, sophisticated Englishman with the soul of a poet, hm? Sounds fascinating... ;D
What kind of sideburns? Because there is a fine line between goofy and gorgeous with the ol' sideburns there, on any man. *raises one eyebrow*

GORGEOUS SIDEBURNS, Lily. Perhaps THE BEST. Like Mister Darcy, except that DEAR GOD it's ACTUALLY MISTER BUCH.
---
Seriously though I am genuinely thrilled that there's someone else out there who likes the ending to Mass Effect 3.
I thought the Captain Anderson scene in particular was astonishingly good. Just the detail of their faces, the personal tension in their father/daughter relationship, the pain in their voices, the decision to have Shep's final personal scene be with Anderson instead of a party member, the brilliance of the symbolism in that scene.
You notice how all three games open with people (usually Anderson) talking about Shepard's potential and the challenges she faces, and people looking out of a window in space? And then it ends with the same image, and him giving her a final appraisal - 'you did good'. Outstanding.

Oooh... *eyes glaze over at the imagined image of gorgeous sideburns* I wonder if I could get Linders to grow sideburns... ;D Seriously though I am genuinely thrilled that there's someone else out there who likes the ending to Mass Effect 3. And then it ends with the same image, and him giving her a final appraisal - 'you did good'. Outstanding. Yeah... when Anderson said "You did good, child, you did good. I'm proud of you..." and then died, at that point the last little tenuous hold I had on my emotions lost control and I burst into tears, and managed to hold it together slightly but shakily while the little ghost child was laying down the options to Shepard, and then, I chose the Control switch and Shepard's face started dissolving and the music swelled up, and I bawled. Tears everywhere. And I definately see what you mean about the Father/Daughter relationship - Shepard looked up to Anderson like a father, and to be beside him as he died was heartbreaking.

I don't cry often these days - but I cried twice at Mass Effect 3. One for Garrus' goodbye and the 'before the devil knows you're dead' thing. I was like, "Don't you forshadow my own death on me you heartwrenching turian bastAAAA *wailing* " and then at Anderson's death. Never cried at a videogame before. Mass Effect 3 got me twice.
I've rarely seen a character given such a perfect death scene as Anderson. With a handful of (brilliantly acted) lines, he and (female) Shepard completely sum up both characters' personalities, their relationship, the themes of soldiers, commanders, parents and responsibility, and the feel of bittersweet victory. All in about five lines. I love how Shepard looks away from him before she thanks him, as though hearing this man say he's proud of her just forces her to take a moment and compose herself, and by looking away like this she actually misses his death. It's just... it's just perfect drama.
And that GOD DAMNED music.

You did not just take that tender scene and reference a children's robot that turns into a truck!

Here is a new sarcasm detector. Actually it's one of my old ones that I got refurbished. I've been on this site for three years Buch. I'd like to think we got a handle on what annoys each other. Anyway, no harm done at all.

Evidently I don't have a handle on you, but I think we'd talk about it pretty openly and sensibly.
Has it been three years?

I don't mean to nitpick, but you all seem to be forgetting the last scene of the trilogy was Commander Shepard turning into magic space soul goo, not overlooking Earth with Captain Anderson (Which was well done, I'll give you, even if all the stuff with The Illusive Man and The Catalyst made about as much sense as My Immortal.)

I just did a re-run of the final mission so I could see the Destroy and Refusal endings as well as the Control ending I'd chosen last night... I might do yet another re-run to see the Synthesis ending, though from what I've heard, that one creeps me out. I will say, I don't like the Refusal ending - the Ghost Child says in a creepy deep ominous voice "The cycle continues - so be it" and absolutely everyone dies?? *heart broken*I prefer the Control ending best, as that one leads to the Reapers backing off - and if I interpreted one of the final cut-scenes correctly, it looks as if Boss Reaper (AKA Jane Shepard) is making the Reapers help with the rebuilding... almost like the Geth helping the Quarians rebuild on Rannoch when I was able to reconcile the Geth / Quarian feud and save both races... I also liked the Destroy ending (though not as much as the Control ending) because by destroying all synthetic life, it destroyed the Reapers. The heartbreak there though was the deaths of EDI and the unified Geth-who-were-allies-of-the-Quarians. I cried. Again. How can I still have enough tears in me to cry over these endings?? I said it before and will say it again - I love the endings to Mass Effect 3.
