Hi everyone I've asked this on other sites so thought I might as well ask it here. What combat class do you think is best, why and what combat class do you generally chose?
Personally I generally go with the vanguard class as its got a really good balance of combat powers and biotics. Charge in ME2 especially is really cool.

I actually have 2 answers. One for each game.
In ME 1, it's Infiltrator all the way. The tech skills were actually important and the shooting distances were great enough that having a sniper rifle instead of a shotty was a good idea.
In ME 2 all the distances were shortened to the point that only Garrus' recruitment mission really asked for a sniper. Biotic charge made it stupid simple to get within ideal shotgun range. No more shield boost for tech characters. And now since even meathead soldier can hack everything as efficiently as an engineer the tech skills are useless.
I still like the idea of the infiltrator best but have to conceed that he was not as pumped up ad the vanguard by far.
I've always liked those 2 classes best.

I love the infiltrator. The only time it's ever let me down was in the last DLC and you had to survive a massive attack.

The infiltrator and vanguard are definitely my favorites as well. I think the vanguard is more reliable on the whole and provides an easier combat experience. However, I love the sniper rifle . So it's pretty much a fifty-fifty on which I'll choose on any random ME playthrough.

Also this.
Not seeing any changes to combat except we get grenades back.

Infiltrator as well.
The sentinel was also good in Mass Effect 2 but was positively declawed in Mass Effect 1.

I picked infiltrator since it it fits my play style the best. Oddly enough, I've had a lot of success as an adept.

Well, define "best". Because I do think the most effective is in fact Soldier. Alas, also probably the most boring.

True about being a soldier but I'd say Infiltrator as well, since it's one of the other class that can give the insanity difficulty a big fat middle finger.

Soldier made things pretty easy for me in ME2 - you get to have two types of special ammo as standard, and a big health bar. That's all you need in that game.

Infiltrator is fun but I like the soldier the best. He can handle a wide variety of situations. All the other classes have to rely on squad mates for some damage types. For example I don't think infiltrator has any thing for combating armor. Where as soldier can use warp ammo and only have to switch to disruptor to fight geth.
Infiltrator is fun though. I like charging while stealthed and getting a headshot just before it wears off. I bet it is massively improved in ME3 with the omni-blade though. Turn Shepard into a Dark Templar.

Sniper rifle is hands down the best for punching through armour. But if you are talking abilities then infiltrator has incinerate as well which takes armour down rather well.
Frankly I think they are pretty well equipped for anything but very close quarters combat

Adept is actually my second choice. Fun to play as, but difficult to master.
