And for extra argument sake, I wish I had the option to give Anders a good smack at the back of his skull, every time he bitches about being oppressed for like... the millionth time. Yeah, hypocritical when I also bitch a lot but at least I'll try to make it amusing as I could. Oh, if he's going to bitch again, he better make it amusing too, the same topic he natters about all the time started to grate my ears. And yes, he's on my obnoxious character list as well. Oh my God Till, I just had a flash in my brain. The good kind. Games have been pretty darn serious lately. We need an action game with a comedic script. Ala Old school Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Lets get an annoying sidekick type character in and have the option to give him a good smack when he talks stupid. Not a full out drama slap, just a Laurel and Hardy type thing. It would rock.

We were definitely intended to hate Roy Earle and Professor MacDougal. I can't stand Cole's war buddy, Jack Kelso, though. The thing is, Cole's a pretty three dimensional character when you stop and look at him, whereas Kelso's the stereotypical private dick and absolutely nothing more. Couldn't disagree more about Wynne! She was by far my favourite character in Origins, and never seemed like she was judging me or setting herself up as a moral authority. It always seemed to me like she was a 'mother' not a mentor - just someone who kinda liked you and just worried about you and habitually self-sacrificed. Looks like someone has an Oedipus Complex! I'm kidding. Wynne really got on my nerves, though. Her advice is just kinda obvious to anyone who knows the slightest thing about right and wrong (she didn't really fit into the Dragon Age universe with that mentality.) And her blind faith in the Circle (which is clearly, clearly full of idiots, on both sides) was irritating, when she preaches about how the system works, even while people like Jowan are turning to the dark arts to stop themselves getting mindraped. And the events of Dragon Age 2 make her look painfully deluded. It is always a matter of taste, to be sure, and I realise my love of Varric, Anders, Aveline and maybe Fenris is not the popular opinion, so fair enough! But honestly, just for argument's sake - I would also add Isabella to the list of obnoxious characters. xD Whachu talking 'bout Buch? Even people who hate Dragon Age 2 tend to like Varric. Isabela (one I) is loathsome, though. I definitely haven't ran into a character who had less of my sympathy all year. It seems like when they were designing her, they gave her nymphomania and forgot to go back and give her any other character traits worth a damn. She's really indicative of the decline in quality of the writing/design of BioWare games to me.

Did someone say repressed?! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q58nTiZrJ0I like Oghren though, he's like this awesum drunk Gimli with an ax! But i can see why he would be annoying in the long run. I think with Isabella they were trying to make her like Morrigan in the regards of making her fall in love with you after enough time and effort has passed. But to be honest no characters except Varric was interesting. Now Fenris! Oooooh Fenris.... Let me put it this way, Tidas from FFX was more bearable then him! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5FTJxfV3pcWait, i take that back! This is not what i wanted! T.T

See Linders, this is why I get bored with gaming nowdays. It's all serious, gun ho and brown. Why can't we have something like Just Cause 2, Psychonauts, Day of the Tentacle, etc, etc. We need more lols in gaming. I agree, I only like her as a comic relief but once the sex jokes craze had worn down, there's not much to her. That isn't a good sign, BioWare. You suppose to make us empathise, instead I just shrug and moved onto other characters I empathise better... say Varric and Troll Cole Phelps. Honestly, she's going onto my obnoxious list soon, especially that whole reason why the quinari were there in the first place. EDIT: Titus is on my obnoxious list too. Oh man... my list is going to be a bottomless pit soon. I gotta start thinking "Likable Characters" list or something...

He is like a FF character though.
Big ass sword he shouldn't be able to wield because he is to damn skinny. Anti-social. Broody. Keeps bitching about a past he cant remember. Treats his love interest (either you or Isabella if you didn't romance either) like crap.
Seriously, i got at least Cloud and Squall in there.

Well I don't know about Squall, but Cloud at least was just mental. I mean Christ there was even a hospital scene where he just went through a character BSOD after realizing he lived a lie even to himself. I kind of liked that actually.
Fenix is just obnoxious.
DA 2's whole art style moved to the BFS idea. Hawke and Carver shouldn't be able to heft those blades either. Dammit I liked that Bioware resisted that trope for so long. At least they aren't claiming a sword is over 50 pounds like Bethsoft. Someone really needs to educate those nerds on how heavy medieval weaponry was. And it sure as Beelzebub did not weigh as much as a big sack of potatoes. Just go ahead and try to swing one of those more than once and see how far you stumble.

At least Sten made sense... Then again in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time is it possible for Link to wield the Giant's sword?

I think I missed something, but - yeah you can fight with the Giant's sword. But it is kinda slow.
Glow you are wrong about everything except Isabela. I think I can see what they were trying to do with that character. It's Jack Sparrow, but a chick, and with more sex jokes. She buggers everything up and causes a bloody riot in which many, many innocents die because of her sheer selfishness, but it's all okay because it's Jack Sparrow! He's so adorable.
The problem they seem to have run into is forgetting that Sparrow's easy charm takes real effort on the part of his writers. Having your knock-off character resemble him physically and get drunk sometimes isn't enough.
ALSO: Yeah, put Titus on the list. I suppose poor old Tingle should get up there, too. I feel sorry for him after all the bashing he's had, but he is annoying, so. And - dare I say it, but... Ryu from Street Fighter? I love to play as him, but if the computer plays as him it's just 'HADOOUKEN! HADOUUUKEN! HADOOUKEN!' for 90 seconds.

Having been trained on the Japanese katana and having used replica broadswords, claymores, and even bastard swords for medival faires, I agree with the bs of the giant sword being irritating.

Should only be about 5-6 lbs right? And balanced too.

Should only be about 5-6 lbs right? And balanced too. Yeah, katanas usually weigh 5 pounds or so and the balance usually is just in front of the tsuka (handguard). Despite what most people think, a katana is a slicing weapon, not a hacking weapon like a broadsword and requires more skill to wield by comparison.

Boomer from the first SOCOM game for the PS2. Kind of an old game, but I used to play it all the time. The AI for this team mate was literally mentally challenged. He would lob grenades at his feet, and get the wholesales team killed. I remember executing him at the beginning of a few missions, just cause he'd screw up all the time.

Reminds me of a COD fanatic trying to keep up with me in Rainbow Six. They always seem to think that running into a terrorist-held room without clearing it first is a good idea.

I'm not happy with the stylise changes in DA2 in some parts either, particularly the combat animation and what not. They gone from creating believable combat animation in DA:O (Look in the DA:O Documentary in the collector's edition, where they did research in handing and swinging weapons from a weapon master in the vids, just to get an idea), to the ridiculous flashiness in DA2 that seem to doesn't fit in a WRPG setting. I'm sorry but I've don't play BioWare to run into this FF BFS bullcrap.
