So, I finished another playthrough of Mass Effect 2 the other week, and now I'm wondering what you all did at the end of the game, regarding the base. I normally choose to destroy it, but this time, as I was playing a Meathead Shepard Renegade character, I decided to keep it. I was pretty confused when everyone started objecting, I mean, it's not like I was gonna use it to make more Reapers. There should have been a neutral option to keep it 'for purely scientific purposes' instead of keeping it because, well, the final mission needed a Paragon/Renegade choice. It also annoyed me how afterwards, even though I had 13 Space Assholes in my crew, they all said I should have destroyed it. Why?

I kept for the renegades, destroyed for the paragons.

The first time I played through the game, I kept the Collector Base. At that point, the Illusive Man hadn't messed with me any more than the Council had. But just getting all of those negative reactions from everyone was like a slap in the face! There wasn't one person who agreed with me? Really?!
Second time I destroyed it, and at least felt better. xD

Always destroy it because the silly game does not give me the option to hand it to the council.

I kept it on my first run in hopes of having the option to allow banking company investments so I can blow it up and collect insurance money to buy every weapon, armor, and upgrade in Mass Effect 3.

I have never kept the base, either as a Paragon or Renegade. I just refuse to be nice to Timmy.

Can't you see what this means to Umanity? It just means we have to wait until the sequel. That's when they send another Terminator, except this time it helps the good guys. BTW, your avatar is awesome.

My vision of saving the base and wrapping it up in a bow for TIMmy includes a snapshot of a reaper with a cigarette hanging out of it's mouth and a glass of bourbon in one of it's tentacles.

I've never kept the base! Which is odd because I thought that the reasonable thing to do is to keep it and study it. But I guess bad things would happen, like people ending up indoctrinated, or too much power in Cerberus' hands.

You do not wanna know what I just read tentacle as there. That's a mental image I want to scrub out with a brillo pad! I never thought about indoctrination or anything, either. You have a point there lieden. While we're on it, how would a Human Reaper actually fly? Iron-Man-style rocket boots? or maybe a jetpack? (also made from human goop.) I'm pretty pissed it got destroyed. I would have loved to have seen that in Mass Effect 3.

I always figured the human shape was just the core with the cuttlefish style hull wrapped around it. Hence I did not mean tentacle as the...ahem appendage I think you meant. Even if it did keep the terminator shape it would still move with a mass effect core...*sigh* probably located in the boots.
