Brilliant, Clint. I'm really glad you write these.

Awesome. Not to sound greedy and self serving, (which is what people always say when they are going to be asking for something greedy and self serving), but could you mention it on your blog? When I google Mock Effect 2, all I get are the announcements on your blog (from ages ago) that there will be no Mock Effect 2, and I want internet wanderers to be able to find it!

New Person (TM) here. Glad to see someone is writing a sequel to this. Like most noobs/lurkers, I was lured to this site because of Mock Effect. I never registered to anything (sorry Mr Buch, haha), and I was disappointed when I found out there wasn't going to be a sequel. But not any longer! I was skeptical of this at first (what with the different author and all), but I think you've done a fine job. Some of the jokes sail over my head (despite the fact that I am a huge nerd...), but most of the time I find it pretty funny. I enjoy Kelly as the ridiculous, airheaded receptionist, and I love the references to The Illusive Man as Tim. John is as great as ever and so is Jane. This story has had me laughing out loud many times. If I had one criticism, I would say that the backing characters do seem to suffer a bit, though. After their initial appearances (coupled usually with bewilderingly awesome quotes about how what they do doesn't make sense), they seem to sort of fade. I would attribute this to there being so many of them. Handling them all would be difficult. Not envious of that task at all, hehe. You've done a good job, though. My only suggestion would be to keep up the tropes you started with them so that they have some kind of continuity, or running gags. Jacob as a former real estate agent is a case. Hilarious backstory (and it reminds me of Glengarry Glen Ross). Keep that up! On a (somewhat) unrelated note (that is totally unnecessary): I've always wanted Garrus to acknowledge the rather ridiculous writing change for him by saying, "I'm badass now." It's up to you to do this. Anywho, good luck with continuing! I'm enjoying every chapter.

Welcome to the group, romancandle. No need to stay in the shadows anymore now that you have popped in. I think clintjohnston23 has the harder job here with the larger cast and being a follow up to the original. And Clint you are doing great, I've been keeping up even if I have not commented lately.

Thanks for the write up Buch! I didn't see it until now because it was edited into the post. You picked a great sample too.
As to side characters, I'm working on it. There's only so much Zaeed you can work in... I tried to keep Miranda & Garrus involved in this chapter. I'll be talking more about each one when we get to the loyalty missions. But first we have to recruit Samara, Thane, and [shudder] Tali.

Especially since some of them, like Jack, are not really cut out for parodying. ...at all. If I were doing this I'd just try to ignore her the whole time. Haha. So I'm interested to see what happens with her.
