....something completely out of order? The reason I haven't posted fic on here lately is because I haven't produced any. I've got a 2,000+ word oneshot in the WIP stage, but unfortunately, unlike with art, it's useless to show that since it's just bits and pieces of scenes and "more dialogue goes here". Sometimes I wish writing were more like art. Fan artists can nab a booth at a convention and get a start. We can't. Also, I've been away for the past few weeks because I went to Celebration V.[/url] It was the best thing ever.

You lucky duck. -.-
Writing is an odd sort of thing. Sometimes I write the ending first, sometimes I have an idea for a later scene and write that. Every author has his/her own process for allowing their images in their head to spill out onto the page. Your method can be as crazy as you want it to be, as long as it gets the words on paper.
For instance, an author named Peter V. Brent wrote most of his novel on an old cell phone. =O

I really is a shame that a piece of writing is very unimpressive right until it's finished. And unlike a piece of visual art, the reader has to devote time to it.
Celebration V, damn it! I would love to go to one of those.

I'd been wanting to go for a long time, so...it was really nice. I got to hear Seth Green discuss Mass Effect a little bit, which kinda made my life.
It is a shame! There are so many disparities between writing and art....shh, I should stop ranting. But, I agree with you. Anyway, hopefully this fic I'm talking about will be up soon, and not too terrible for being assembled like Frankenstein.
lol cell phone. Whatever works!

I can only write in one room, at my laptop! I have tried using paper or a different place but I can't get into it.

I know exactly what you mean. I frequently have a problem with what I'll call: "Writing in a continuous continuity". Basically when I have the idea for a scene, I'll sit down and type it. Sometimes I'll have no idea what even surrounds the scene, or where it's going, but I'll write it.
Often I finish three or four seemingly unrelated scenes before I even realize that they're connected and how.
Sometimes it'll be something as small as a section of dialogue and I'll write it and then I'll look it over and I'll be like: WTF? What is this? I keep everything saved on my computer though, so often enough I'm able to connect them together.
Other times, even when I know the continuity, and have the entire story fairly planned out, there are scenes that'll just jump out at me and I'll feel like: "Oh, I need to write that now." And I do, because sometimes if I wait until I get to that scene in "continuous continuity" I may not feel as invested as I did in that particular moment.
I guess what I'm saying, or depending on your POV, possibly running a circle around is this. I write what occurs to me in the moment regardless of it's temporal location in the actual story. It's served me well so far, I think.

I also write very haphazardly, one scene here, some dialogue there, intermittent notes. My writings are usually a horrible mess until... well, they usually stay that way. :}
