I'm sorry, but every time I hear or read the name "January Jones", I have to suppress the urge to snicker and think "Sounds like the name of a porn star!" I know, I'm terrible. But here's the real reason I'm posting: January Jones *snicker* (Okay I'll Stop Now) Joins Cast of New X-Men FilmInteresting that my *least* favorite X-Men, Cyclops, probably won't be back for this (yay!). The casting choice for Professor X is... unexpected.

Cyclops is the lamest comic book hero, like... ever. And it's going to be difficult to find someone who matches up to Patrick Stewart for Dr. Xavier.

I'm really excited about this movie; it sounds like the reboot the series desperately needs. Though X3 wasn't the best, it was still miles better than the cinematic misfire that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
We've got a good director (Kick Ass) and a good cast shaping up. Not quite sure how they're gonna handle the characters, but I'm very interested to see it. =D!

You're an idiot, Knightfall. X-Men 3 was a disgrace. Wolverine was... meh. Not too bad, hoenstly, even despite the presence of Ryan Reynolds. And it did have my favourite badass line ever: "Your country needs you, Logan!" (dramatic turn, gravelly voice) "I'm Canadian..." The only time those words will ever sound menacing. Seriosuly, X-3 was insultingly bad, Wolverine was just bad. -- I have very low expectations for a new X-Men movie with an entirely new cast. And frankly those casting choices seem very silly to me. James McAvoy as Professor X?? -- And what's with all the Cyclops hate? I like Cyclops. And I hate to see an X-Men story that doesn't feature him. He's the leader!

My beef with him goes back to the Phoenix saga. Or rather, afterwards. When he left his wife (who looked like Jean) and kid and went back to Jean when she came back to life, specifically. Leader, shmeader, to me.

Buch, you are too damn British. Wolverine was pretty terrible. It did something that not even X3 did, and that was completely shrug off the canon set up by X1 and X2. In addition to that, someone thought it would be the best idea ever to put a singer from the Black Eyed Peas in one of the lead roles and then let him pick his own abilities, which resulted in a flat character who was an almost-Nightcrawler.
Plus, it bothered me to no end seeing Wolverine wearing American dogtags, when he clearly had Canadian ones throughout all the other movies.
X3 was a mess because they brought in a new director at the last minute just before the actor who played Cyclops decided to leave early to play in Superman, and after Hallie Berry decided they should rewrite the script to give her more of a part in the movie, or else she would leave too. Plus the studio interference. This did not a good movie make, but it's one I'd rather watch three times over before I see Wolverine tackle a helicopter again.
But to backtrack to where we both agree, I really liked Cyclops, too! I loved the rivalry he had with Wolverine, and I always sympathized with him the most for some reason. =D

*cautiously sticks head up* I liked Origins: Wolverine. It wasn't "The Dark Knight" (which incidentally I have problems with anyway) but not many superhero films will be. X3 sucked. But Wolverine wasn't half bad. And Deadpool was badass.

lol, this is how Buch and I normally converse, don't worry. xD
Wolverine was a great idea, I just wish they'd had a better director and had stuck to the canon a bit more. Despite all my feelings about it, I absolutely loved the Wolverine/Sabertooth rivalry, enough that I wouldn't mind a sequel. Sounds like they're getting a new director, though, so that's good. The iffy part is that it will likely be David Slade, who directed 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
We'll see how that goes. ><

The casting in general really bothered me in 'Wolverine'. Ryan Reynolds is awful, and that thing wasn't any Deadpool I'm (vaguely) familiar with.
The Black Eyed Peas guy had no reason to be there, Sabretooth was way too short, and worst of all, they completely mangled my favourite X-Man, Gambit.
Clint, I wonder what you could possibly dislike about The Dark Knight! My only gripe was Christian Bale himself, and his silly Batman voice.

More details about the new X-Men flick. Now their choice for Professor X makes a little more sense.

Cool, I guess. They could do a lot with a X-Men film set in the 60's, with the civil/mutant rights thingy. So I suppose this is a prequel, in the same continuity then.

Have any of you read the first X-men comics? If they really went back to the beginning... oh dear, how lame it would really, really be. They're bloody awful!

The stupid dilemma at the end. Where Morgan Freeman threatens to stop working for Batman if he keeps invading people's privacy. Not only doesn't it fit with the entire concept of Batman, it's ludicrous to begin with. People are so paranoid these days about their privacy, yet they willingly bastardize it with everything from GPS to Smart Phones.

If they're putting in the new "Angel" as part of the cast for this film, then it's not likely that they're going to use the old comics as the sole source of their material.

The old Spider-Man comics were pretty bad, and they adapted them into good movies, in this fairly casual fan's opinion
