Do you remember the gorgeous ending song from Mass Effect 1?
The band is called Faunts. These guys are from Alberta, Canada, and I find their music beautifully evoking. (I often choose to write ME-related things with them playing in the background!)
Would recommend their M4 EP (where M4, Pt II is from). M4, Pt I is also a great piece in that EP.
Wonderfully heart-aching video of M4, Pt II:
And M4, Pt I (stills only):

Welcome, lieden
I like the ME theme song very much. I like this other one too, though it sounds very similar to me. I don't know the first thing about this type of music.

Didn't this play at the end of Mass Effect 2 as well? I can't really remember.
Oh and welcome to the site, huh?

I just bought this album on iTunes on Friday, talk about timing! I give it a big recommendation, too. If you like M4 Part II, the rest of the EP is just as good (it's funny calling it an EP when the whole thing runs for so long!). I'll be picking up the rest of their work next payday.
Oh, and the end of ME2 plays the end run or suicide mission music, if I recall correctly Mr Glow.

Nah, ME2 had orchestrated music during the credits, which disappointed me since I liked the M4 Pt2 song so much. It's on my IPod now and has really grown on me with the way it could be applied to almost any theme of the game, and how bittersweet it is (even if the ending of the game itself wasn't all that.)
I'll have to check out the rest of the album as well--I don't know much about them either.

I was very disappointed by the orchestral music at the end of ME2 as well. It was a great piece, but it didn't seem to fit. The ME series (particularly part 1) had a very cool, faux-80's theme, including that kind of electronic music. Both games go out of their way to remind you of Blade Runner, mainly, I guess. So when they used a Star Wars-style orchestral piece at the end of ME2 it felt kind of... lazy.
Not to mention that a giant, classy theme belongs at the end of a trilogy, not right in the middle.

I liked The Faunts at the end of ME1. I equally like the orchestral track at the end of part 2. For me it is about what fits with the end of the game. Shepard walking away from the council at the end of ME1 saying that there is more work to do about the reapers, then the music starts up. It fit perfectly.
The orchestral track to me just screams unfinished business. It says damn I just finished a job of work but the work has only just started. I just felt it fit the mood properly. Hmmm, I may be cracking open ME1 again...

I never cared for the ending track of ME2, in that I cannot even remember it to save my life! Quite the opposite with the Faunts song. I found it so moving and evoking, that I don't think I would be exaggerating much if I claimed that it was this song, with the emotional involvement it triggered, that made me want to write for the ME fandom and its characters.

I know music is good when it creates an emotional response, and M4 Pt II does that, at least for me. At the risk of sounding corny, it almost brought tears to my eyes. >_>
