This film's being released in Australia today. I've heard some good things about it, and I love the whole franchise (and the AvP games of course).
Has anyone else seen it yet? Is it worthy, or another piece of poodoo like the AvP films?

I have not seen the movie yet, but I would like to voice a thought on the premise. On one level Predator was another in a long line of tough guy flicks that "Ahnald" was in. But there was one element that was pretty neat. The humans in that movie were all top notch soldiers of fortune, sort of a Normandy combat squad of the 20th century. Their deadly skills in killing were made very clear in the opening act.
Suddenly they are the prey, getting picked off one by one, their combat skills made meaningless by a superior being. "Ahnald's" character only lived 'cause he got lucky. Maybe he "won", but the character was a shell shocked wreak afterwards.
Here is the thing, introducing numerous predator aliens all hunting the same small squad of humans places the humans at a level or even superior level with the predators whether that was the intent or not.
Maybe I'm thinking too hard about an 80s "Ahnald" flick but there it is. Hope you enjoy the movie, the series died for me at Predator 2. Before the whole Aliens crossover thing started.

The original Predator will always be a classic to me. Along with Terminator and Alien, it was really good n' scary sci-fi at the time. What happened to all three series afterward is mostly disappointing (*cough*Predators 2, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, AvP, Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation *cough* xD).
I'm really hopeful about this movie. Mostly because Robert Rodriguez is behind it, and if he knows anything it's how to stay faithful to the source material (however little there is). It almost seems like he's trying to merge "The Most Dangerous Game" and Predator together, which is very awesome.
Based on the reviews, it just sounds like a fun movie. I'll probably be seeing it this week sometime. xD

jklinders, I liked that premise as well. These guys were the baddest of the bad. Hell, Jesse Ventura was lugging a bloody rotary gatling on his back! It really was pure luck (and a little ingenuity) in the end that helped Ahnold win. I really didn't like Predator 2 at all.
This is supposed to be something of a reboot following on from the first film. I'm really, really hoping Predators is like Aliens. Yeah, that.

You know, I was never that keen on 'Predator'. I absolutely love 'Alien' - I guess Arnold and Jesse Ventura aren't my kind of guys.
When I heard they were making another Predator movie I just thought, 'Ah, Christ, not again'. But - Adrien Brody?? Just seing him on the poster made me want to check it out.

So, I finally went and saw Predators yesterday. Not bad at all! Much better than Pred 2, and almost square with Ahnald's work. Highly recommended for some good action and expansion on Predator lore.
