Good work again, Nemo!
Shepard and Kal come across as deep and realistic characters even though it's a short fic. It doesn't feel like they're here for the story, if you know what I mean - it's rich, and believable. The musing on fatherhood was also very nice, and it's an interesting concept in general.
Nice one! If I had to criticise: I'd have liked it to be a bit longer and explore the emotions and stories it hinted at more.

I liked it as well. It was short, but it felt like you actually got inside the characters, which is no easy thing to do. I agree with Mr Buch, it should have been longer!

Thank you very much!
it would be longer if I weren't working on a couple other, longer ME fics. Tali/Kal and Shepard's woes are dealt with further in one called "Siege Engines", which I have posted on FFN and could I suppose put here.
I have a question for you guys--who do you think Shepard's LI is in this story?

When I read it, I didn't know. My feeling was Liara, but looking back at the writing I don't think that works. Can't have kids.... I'm saying Thane.

I'd have said Garrus, what with the whole amino acid thing. Anyway, I enjoyed this story, it's always good to see the softer sides of characters you don't normally see that side of. Good Work

Bwahaha...then my plan was a success. I wanted the reader to interpret it as anyone they wanted it to be...and also leave my own intention mysterious. ^_^
It could be any of the aliens, right--except Liara and Shep could technically have kids. (I don't know much about ME alien biology yet, especially the drell.) I didn't say it was impossible, just that there'd be complications. Bwaha...
Thank you, Mr Glow!

I feel used!
lol I picked Thane because a) he's kinda nearly human so I can imagine reproduction being possible, and b) he is coooool.

Isn't using and deceiving others what writing is for? Thane is cool, although I never bothered to romance him. I prefer my aliens a bit more alien. His introduction was shamelessly awesome though. He's like a ninja!

After that intro, I was his biggest fan. I do find the leather jacket and 'not my fault I'm just the instrument' excuse a bit silly... but aside from that, he's the man! He's so cool they made a whole species just for him!
Actually I didn't do the Thane romance either. Will do at some point.

I tried to romance Garrus, but it turns out you can barely talk to him if you didn't recruit him in the first game.

He holds a grudge.

Really! I didn't know that. It sorta makes sense though.
I romanced Garrus the first time around, but had hoped for him to be....less awkward in the dialogue, lol. My current playthrough, Shep's staying single.

***gasps*** really?? His sidequests in both games did not even come close to implying that. though granted I understand the obsession with Sidonis.
