Get the tissues ready: The one with Garrus being dragged off really got to me. He'd been with me for two whole games, becoming Shepard's protege and best friend, and was killed off just like that. I don't know whether I'll import to Mass Effect 3 with a perfect game or warts and all.

Whooooah.
When I lost one of my men (Mordin), it wasn't even on-screen. (I've done some reading and I think I fell victim to a bug.)
If it had been one of these very cool scenes, I don't think I would have complained as much as I did. In fact, a few death scenes of this quality would make the ending better, I think.
My mind is blown.

My mind is blown. If the death of Mordin happened during the 'hold the line segment" during the last battle, there are some invisible dice rolled there. All the deaths that have these scenes stem from mistakes you make in squad assignment or not upgrading Normandy. On hold the line at the end, it is random whether it happens or not. You tip the odds in your favor by having your best tanks there. Mordin is not a good tank. Tali is not a good tank, and I wish there was more of thing happening to show it except watching the collectors walk past their bodies at the end. If wanting the whole squad to live, I prefer to have Tali on escort duty and Mordin with me for the last fight. Besides, Mordin's incinerate is awesome to have on hand. ;)Most everyone else does a pretty good job of surviving if you take care of them.

My Mordin died off-screen, as part of the team getting the hostages back... or something.
In any case, I was pissed off at how undramatic it was. These scenes are muuuch better.
I do think these deaths should be better tied to the plot, and easier to manipualte.

More triggers tied to command decisions( who leads the squad, preparations at the final stand ect) would have been better than the invisible dice rolling here.I actually think it is a bit of a sin that ANY character could die off camera. After so much effort put into forming the squad. This is supposed to be a sci fi dirty dozen. The final mission while intense... I don't know, maybe a little more thought and structure. It hardly seemed like the other groups were needed. Maybe a session where you control the second squad leader or something...BAH!!! I don't know.

I really had high hopes for the suicide mission, and it was fantastic, but I really wish it was more dynamic, more based on the mistakes you make outside of a multiple choice sheet, less arbitrary. I want to feel like it's my fault that some of my crew died, that I made a bad call and my crew suffered for it, but at the same time, I don't want to make a bad call and feel like it was the game's fault, not mine. I came up with ideas about the suicide mission, like having an objective requiring you to take the heat off your fireteam, and depending on who you assigned to the fire team, depends how long they last. For example, a team led by Garrus with Miranda and Legion will last a lot longer than a fireteam led by Jack with Mordin and Tali. You could still potentially salvage the situation with the latter, though it would be far harder to do so without casualties. I'm awful at explaining, so take that little idea as you will. I got Grunt killed anyways, I assigned him distraction squad duty because of the keyword 'distraction'. He's a krogan. Massive, loud, violent. Who better? Then he gets shot in the gut and dies. Even though he's a krogan. Who have ridiculously fast regeneration rates. And have been described as even headshots not guaranteeing keeping them down. Ah well.

Man... this is going to be hard on my bitchy Shepard playthrough... I was planing to kill most of my squad... and leaving out Miranda and Jacob alive.
Now before pointing fingers at me for killing off Tali and Garrus, I'm just doing this to see how much it will impact ME3 as BioWare claim... and secondly, that bitchy shepard I've mention about, her name is Bella.
I hope in ME3, I have the option to kill Shepard at the finale, as you have the option to keep your Shepard alive. So far I hate this Shepard I'm attempting to work on atm.

Ohforce my first suicide mission went terribly (thus Optimal Capacity...which kinda makes it worth it.) I totally agree about Garrus getting dragged off. Quite gutwrenching--and the scene at the doors where you're not quite sure whether the tech is going to make it at the end is edge-of-seat tense no matter who's there.
While I've never done it in the game myself, the ending where everyone dies (including Shepard) is really worth looking up on YouTube.

Thinking about it, I think any death scenes that involves with Garrus' demise is quite heartrending. The swarms are really nasty but the part where Garrus leads the 2nd diversion team is... really tragic, especially his last words.
"Sorry Shepard. Won't be with you till the end... snipe one for me."

And he sounded unusually posh "Snipe one for me, would you? There's a good chap." Anyway, I've got a rather brutal one: At least his legacy will live on

I love lamp.
I mean... Garrus. That was awesome.
As for that first clip, I can imagine it will stir unhappy memories for a certain member of the site....
He was a leaf on the wind, Knight.
