Good day[morning][evening] to all. This is your humblest of tri-dimensional geometric figures here to announce my arrival. To speak of myself, I am small, absorb all colors of the visible spectrum, and am a proportionate 1x1x1 ft structure.
Unfortunately I have had troubles in uploading a proper avatar so visual representation is currently out of the question (sorry). But I feel that in a site that is as such, a piece of my work would better represent me.
The following is a simple, short piece of dialog I thought up not an hour ago to my own humorous delight. It concerns the side mission on Illium 'Medical Scans' from Mass Effect 2. The primary speaker in this text is a personally created (Non Shepard) character by the name of Marrick Galcian, a convicted terrorist released from cryo-suspension when Shepard released Jack/Subject Zero. Without further distraction -
[Shepard] You seem to forget that a Human saved you from both Saren and the Geth
[Erinya] The Geth created by the idiotic Quarians? That a rogue Turian spectre led in an attack?
The Geth didn’t start with the Citadel. They attacked your human colony, Eden Prime, first.
You Humans brought the Geth upon us. You, and the Turians, and the Quarians. My people’s deaths are on your hands!
[Shepard] Who’s deaths are we talking about, exactly?
[Erinya] The mother of my daughters was killed on the Quarian home world, during the initial Geth uprising.
My daughters died on the citadel when the Geth attacked. One worked in the embassy. The other was a greeter for the consort.
I’m not speaking in hypotheticals, Human. The aliens will never e my allies. The best they can do is give me useful medical data.
[Galcian] Shepard. If I may?
Erinya, I know you’d never take the word of someone like me to heart, but at least try to hear me. I know how you feel… I know exactly how you feel. I had a daughter, at one time. She was very adventurous, always bobbing around the galaxy anywhere she could be of use. She was… such a sweet girl.
She had made her way into an asari team of archeological prospectors about ten years ago, they salvaged old prothean technology from ruins scattered across the inner systems. Of course, as with any form of ruin or dig site, these ruins were… unstable. There was a large cave in late in the day. Most of the other asari workers managed to make their way out but… my daughter was deeper in the system and… well… she was among the 7 other bodies they pulled out 3 days later…
I don’t exactly know you, but I know me, and I can tell you that I was furious; in tears with rage. I blamed the other survivors; they could have gotten her out if they had tried I said. I blamed the organization who sponsored the excavation; their safety protocols weren’t tight enough…. … I blamed myself. I should have kept her close to home… but no, she was dead, and there wasn’t a soul I could blame… not even myself.
Now I never blamed the asari for what happened, no; even in my delirium I knew that the actions of a few or even of many could not possibly stand for an entire species… an entire people. I’ve known all types; Asari, Turians, Salarians, Quarians... Humans… and only so few were bad people at heart. Now what happened to your daughters was the fault of a few, not of the whole. A few bad people can carry more weight in this world than the many will even know.
I’ve gotten over my daughter… as much as I know to be possible… the only pain that I’ve yet to overcome is the pain I caused myself… and others with my blame. Those colonists are victims, innocents, like your daughters… like mine… Do you want to hurt them too? Do they deserve this?
Erinya: … I-I-I’m… … I’m sorry, please. I-I’ll send an amended contract. No test, no more fees. I’m sorry; I need to get to work. Please… I’m not a bad person… I need to go…
Shepard: … Did you really have a daughter?
Galcian: I hate kids…
Post note. I feel that the way Erinya would break down is a tad rushed and a bit heavy handed but considering the way she turns so quickly to tears at Shepard's limited input in the paragon option, I feel that I hold the right to heavy hand my version.
: )
