This is just a funny picture that appeared on Cracked today - being a horror / monster fan I laughed! Thought I'd share ;D However... I should point out the obvious flaw with this... that werewolves feature pretty heavily in 'New Moon'!

I love what they said about zombies - it's quite right; it really is the same plot over and over again! And yet I keep watching them

Lol it basically is just different locations. Zombies in a Mall, a big city, a prision, a small town, a underground military base, a cruise ship, a spaceship, a train, a plane, on Mars even on a canoe! And once thats done OMFG FAST ZOMBIES!!!!!! Lets do it all over again

I saw the one with zombies on a plane. Man, it was ridiculous.

That chart was perfect. Making the zombies run really did change the game. It was like a movie about bears who can carry guns.
These days, the main appeal of zombie movies is that they ask the question: What would you do in this situation? When I first watched Dawn of the Dead, I kept thinking, you know, what shenanigans would I indulge in if I had an entire mall to mess around in. It's never completely about the zombies, it's the anarchy that they create...and destroy.
And, yeah, I doubt vampires will ever be cool again. Shame, that.

I blame Anne Rice for ruining vampires... but I did enjoy Buffy a lot. So these modern, tortured vampires aren't so bad. And vampires were destined to lose their edge in modern times. They're too much tied to 'Dracula' - too heavily associated with romanticism and elegance. By today's standards a person who lives forever by drinking blood isn't scary anymore, but she IS still fascinating and poetic. Also- This guy will never stop being cool.
Seriously, even if that movie is now horribly dated, that scene with Count Orloff standing in the doorway (and the shadow scene and the one where he rises vertically) will always be magnificent and creepy.

I just want to say one thing about werewolves. A US author called Robert R McCammon wrote a book called The Wolf's Hour back in the 80s. About a British Secret Agent in WW2 who was also a were-wolf. it was a pretty good read and about the best representation of were-wolves I have ever seen. kind of like a shape changing James Bond only without the boring parts.

That does sound very cool.

the coolest thing about the book was how the author used a werewolf(intrinsically savage that it is) as a foil to show just how truly monstrous humans can get. Here is a link to the author's website www.robertmccammon.com/novels/the_wolfs_hour.htmlother notable books include Swan Song and Boy's life.

I think it used to be much better than it is now... maybe my tastes just changed. But yeah, there are still some absolute gems. Anything by David Wong is good.
I think they produce too much work now - comedy really suffers if it's rushed, I think.
