Ha! This one's not from Kotaku. It looks as though Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of the first two Fallout games, KotOR 2, and the upcoming, Fallout: New Vegas, will be developing a game based on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. It sounds like a small game studio had the rights, but brought in Obsidian to assist with bringing out the best of what the game could offer. I won't say that KotOR 2 represents the best game on their resume, but when that game was great, it was really great. And Fallout: New Vegas looks amazing. This'll probably only be of interest to Hodster, but a company known for making Bioware-like games working on a highly acclaimed fantasy series only means good things. Sounds like Dragon Age and The Elder Scrolls will have some competition eventually. aidanmoher.com/blog/2010/02/asides/an-aside-fallout-developers-working-on-wheel-of-time-videogame/

The problem with Obsidian is they just aren't as good as Bioware. There good, don't get me wrong, but they never seem to achieve the same quality with the same source material as Bioware.

Well well well... so there will be more wheel of time games after all.
Thank you very much Knight for putting this up. But now my head fills with questions.
Red Eagle has the rights to make WoT games and I think films. But I can not see WoT movies, at least not the whole series. It's so big and so many books that they would have to cut ALOT out. I was thinking maybe they could make a TV series but yeah probably won't work in the long run.
Now games, there is one wheel of time game it's a FPS and you shoot spells and such. It's set before the books so it doesn't revolve around anyone from the books. I never played it. For awhile now it was rumored that Red Eagle would make a MMO. I'd probably give a MMO a try but wasn't crazy for it. But now they are working with Obsidian...Holy Crap! So many questions mainly:
Will it be set in the books and fallow the main characters from the books? Or Will it be set during a different time like during Artur Hawking's rise to power or the Trolloc Wars or something like the first game just a 100 or so years before the books? Next What kind of gameplay will it have? I would think it be a RPG but would it be like Kotor style or Oblivion style.
And so many more questions. I would love to have my favorite characters in a party and hopefully with Obsidian they won't fudge this up.

A Wheel of Time RPG? Sounds interesting. Sure it's from Obsidian but I'm willing to give them a chance. Unlike Blizzard *cough cough*
I've haven't got into the Wheel of Time novels yet but still, I'm interested to see how it goes.

Yeah I'm going to give them a chance but I'm both excited and afraid of this. Excited because I may be able to play/fight alongside all the characters that I love and hate. Afraid because of how this could possibly go very wrong. And Tillian if you have nothing to do you should read The Wheel of Time

The old Wheel of Time game wasn't bad at all. It had top graphics for its time, decent voice acting and even visited some of the infamous places of the universe, like Shadar Logoth (which was really well done). I'm tentatively looking forward to this one.
