I'm almost certain that there was a rumor going around that when George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were given a tour of the Avatar set by James Cameron, Lucas said he was considering reprocessing the Star Wars films for 3D. They've already announced a definitive set of all six movies to be released eventually, complete with some new alterations and the undoing of things in the special edition that didn't work out. So maybe.

Really? I'd figured that Lucas had sealed his own fate as an eternal hack with the desecrating of his own masterpieces.

Really? I'd figured that Lucas had sealed his own fate as an eternal hack with the desecrating of his own masterpieces. Howard Johnson is right! I agree with Cali completely there. I am bloody sick of these endless revisions. The films were a big hit... why does he think he needs to change them every three weeks?

Because it will make more money.
I know I'll pay to see them in 3D...

lol! I love Rascarin's little profile pic. The Road to El Dorado was a great movie.
I give the prequel trilogy a lot more credit than it deserves. I loved the movies until KotOR made me look at the lore a little more seriously (though, even at the time I could see the Episode II romance as kinda lame). The podrace, in particular. I had never seen anything like that before. I remember bouncing up and down in my recliner. xD
Most of this DEFINITIVE EDITION talk of the six movies being given a "final cut" is purely rumor, but if it's true, then I must support it. That might mean alterations to the prequel trilogy as well, to make everything flow a little better. I would protest if this were the Indiana Jones trilogy (and they actually were thinking about it for awhile, which resulted in a hilarious South Park episode), but this is Star Wars, a property with lore so grand that it dwarfs the Lord of the Rings catalog, which is constantly being altered with every book, every comic, every game, so on. It takes a lot of work to get all of that running smoothly, and I don't think Lucas was looking too carefully when he made his movies.
So a definitive edition would be something I'd support. It might make for a more seamless transition between the two trilogies.
And if these 3D rumors are true, I can't imagine how cool it would be to see the opening battle of Episode III popping off the screen Avatar-style. Woooow.

I would love to see my beloved Star Wars films is 3D - and indeed just on the big screen. But I just loathe the re-cut versions. Once the movie is out, that should be IT. Every new version seems to make them worse. And the new stuff is horribly jarring.

On Avatar I saw it. It was great. The story was simple. Visuals and all that jazz AMAZING!!!!! Characters... alright. One of the best movies of 2009 if not to many the best (I still liked Star Trek better). The final battle was Amazing and I could watch it over and over again.
Well now that thats out of the way I must say was I the only one routing for the humans? Call me a evil bastard but I wanted the humans to win, I knew it wasn't going to happen but I still wanted them too.
The Colonel, Colonel Miles Quaritch (had to look up his name) was my favorite character in the movie. I loved how he just sipped his coffee while they blew up the Tree of Life (thats what it basically was). He was one of the main reasons I was routing for the humans.
Now I want to see Dances with Wolf to see how similar it is lol

Quaritch was badass. I liked how during the final battle, he doesn't even notice he's on fire for like five minutes and then just brushes it off like a piece of lint. xD
Dances With Wolves was pretty good, but if that's too much Kevin Costner for you, then The Last Samurai has the exact same theme: but it has samurai instead of Indians. And ninjas.

Yeah I saw The Last Samurai too except I was routing for the "lest developed" side. I did enjoy The Last Samurai because well I like Samurai. Avatar I was like KICK THOSE GIANT CAT SMURFS COLONEL! I love the part when they are getting away from the base in the Helicopter and Quaritch is just like "Those muther fockers" grabs the guy's gun and basically says "Frak the atmosphere" opens the door, everyone else "OMGWTFBBQ" and he just walks out and start shooting. He's my Hero Now that I think about it I seem to cheer for the losing team in these movies....

Finally watched Star Trek... Someone bought it for me for xmas. Everybody in the room was silent all the way through then Daniel finally spoke up at the end and said "That was shit." and we all agreed.

I liked Star Trek! It was too Hollywoody (and bizarrely I hated Simon Pegg - first time ever) but I really had a good time with it!

I couldn't get into it personally. They took a great big dump on the time line, had no sub-plot and nobody but kirk and spook got any air time so I didn't get to know anyone. Its really hard to make an emotional bond when the two characters you're given are dicks with no personality. It was just all too gun ho american hypocrosy with a twist of no imagination and some shiny thigns on screen,. An ADHD kids dream now I think of it. Daniel said somethign that amde a lot of sense today though he was actually saying this about Adam... "It's mediocre entertainment for the mediocre man."
