Well it's December 1st - and thus my favourite month begins. And one of the best things about this, the best time of year... is the songs. Let's have everyone posting their favourite Christmas Song! To get the ball rolling, the obvious introductory piece And it'd be a crime not to include this version.

To be honest, I'm not aware of a great many Christmas songs, but I'll post a few I found.
But this is one of the first songs I thought of immediately:
You're damn right! >=D

Not aware of many Christmas songs?! What? WHAT?!?!
However, I'll let you off because 'Pikachu's Vacation' was so amusing to me there! And I like the other two a lot as well!
Here is an AMV along with Spinal Tap's 'Christmas With The Devil' - another of my favourite festive tunes.
And tell me this, Non-British/Irish people - do you guys have this song over there in Australia / America / Canada?
Because it is THE BEST ONE.

Yeah, I never hear that many around Christmas...ironically. Or when I do hear some, it's different every year. Another country artist performing his version of "Let It Snow," or something. Never anything that makes an impression...except for Pikachu's Winter Vacation. =D
But! I did remember all the songs that Adam Sandler did. Those are my holiday songs right there. xD
The song's like 2 mins in. This is how people should randomly break out into song!

I really like the Hannukah song I'm not much of an Adam Sandler fan normaly, but that was grand. Here is a great Christmas Carol. It might seem a bit inappropriate the year of Patrick Swayze's death... but I honestly think the song rather honours him!

I too am very very fond of Fairytale of New York. It's a perfect antitdote to the rigid smileyness of the usual Christmas songs. An excellent song that realistically captures the season and shows all its beauty. I think.
Once I heard a version sung by Ronan Keating and some lass I hadn;t heard of, and they had re-written all the sweary bits. She called him a 'blaggart'. I thought it was the most despicable thing that I ever heard done to a song, like giving it a lobotomy.

Speaking of (somewhat) less sugary fayre, here is The Christmas Song No Man Dare Criticise.
I do think it's a very beautiful song, and I imagine to continues to do a lot of good in terms of drumming up donations. A great thing.
But I also love it for the lyric 'And the Christmas Bells that ring there / are the Clanging Chimes of Doom'. Because, although it's heartless and cruel of me, that one lyric makes me laugh every time I hear it! It sounds like the title of a Doctor Who episode! It just really stirrs my childish side and makes me try to picture these Chimes and wonder what macabre purpose they might serve and how terrible the clanging is.

Here's one of my new favourite Christmas songs. I really, really, really like this.
It perfectly sums up my feelings - as a slightly-jaded, ultimately soppy atheist who has all sorts of issues with it, but just really likes Christmas.
I'm looking forward to Christmas It's sentimental I know, but I just really like it I'm, I'm hardly religious I'd rather break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu to be honest And yes I have all of the usual objections to consumerism The commercialisation of an ancient religion And the western-isation of a dead Palestinian Press-ganged into selling PlayStations and beer But I still really like it.
I, I really like Christmas Though I'm not expecting a visit from Jesus I'll be seeing my dad My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum They'll be drinking white wine in the sun I'll be seeing my dad My sisters and brother, my gran and my mum We'll be drinking white wine in the sun.
I don't go for ancient wisdom I don't believe just 'cause ideas are tenacious it means that they're worthy I get freaked out by churches Some of the hymns that they sing have nice chords But the lyrics are dodgy And yes I have all of the usual objections to the mis-education of children forced into a cult institution And taughted to externalise blame And to feel ashamed And to judge things as plain right and wrong But I quite like the songs.
I'm not expecting big presents The old combination of socks, jocks and chocolate is just fine by me.
'Cause I'll be seeing my dad My brother and sisters, my gran and my mum They'll be drinking white wine in the sun I'll be seeing my dad My sisters and brothers, my gran and my mum They'll be drinking white wine in the sun.
And you my baby girl My jetlagged infant daughter You'll be handed round the room Like a puppy at a primary school And you're too young to know But you will learn yourself one day That wherever you are and whatever you face These are the people who'll make you feel safe in this world My sweet blue-eyed girl
And if my baby girl When you're twenty-one or thirty-one And Christmas comes around And you find yourself nine thousand miles from home You'll know whatever comes Your brother and sister, and me and your mum Will be waiting for you in the sun Girl, when Christmas comes Your brothers and sisters, your aunts and your uncles Your grandparents, cousins, and me and your mum Will be drinking white wine in the sun We'll be waiting for you in the sun Baby, whenever you come We'll be drinking white wine in the sun Waiting.
I, I really like Christmas It's sentimental I know.
I couldn't have written my feelings better.

This is just.... beyond awesome.
Also we had the Clanging Chimes of Doom earlier, and this song references 'Satan's Power' - I love the crazy demonic imagery in Christmas songs!
