This isn't really new news, but within the last week or so, EA officially shut down Pandemic Studios. This leaves Bioware-Pandemic as simply Bioware-?? now.
I was a really big fan of their games, particularly the Star Wars: Battlefront series and the Destroy All Humans series. And the original Mercenaries was a pretty badass game as well.
I'm not quite sure who's at fault here. Seems sorta lame that EA bought out Bioware-Pandemic, only to completely shut down half of it. To add insult to injury, EA just announced that they're going to be creating their own Mercenaries game, since technically they still own the rights to the property.
Depressing, but I also heard rumors that it was on account of bad management on Pandemic's part, which equated into the Batman game that was never finished and the lackluster sales/production values of Mercenaries 2.
I dunno. Seems like a pretty harsh move on EA's part, especially with Christmas a month away, but it sorta seems like Pandemic didn't shape up and fly right when given the opportunity.
Hopefully Big Brother Bioware stepped in to offer some jobs to the hard workers.
What do you all think about zat?

I say a bit of both but I do agree that EA is harsh in regards to shutting Pandemic Studios down, especially at a times like this. I hope BioWare does have some conscience left and try to take those employees in like Ion Storm Austin did with the Looking Glass studios back then.
Also I find it disturbing that EA is repeating history once more like Westwood studios and C&C series in the past...

Damn EA, I loved Star Wars Battlefront. I also sort of liked that Lord of the Rings: Battlefront clone a bit.

It's sad that both of the companies that were due to make another Battlefront game were put down. Free Radical was working on the third installment (and the third Timesplitters game, disappoints me so much that it won't happen now), and now Pandemic. =(
Both companies had A LOT of potential.

Well EA wants to own the market and how better than to buy out and dismantle the competition. That's Microsoft thinking that. lol

Hopefully they don't do the same to Bioware, however unlikely that is. ><

Don't worry they'll have a good reshuffle and tinker with Bioware until it becomes a mutant... then they'll absorb it and buy another company like Bethesda to suck the life out of. That's how Mosquit- I mean EA works ya know.

I gotta say - though I enjoyed Battlefront (or mostly Battlefront 2) a lot, I don;t rate it so much as a game. And the three Destroy All Humans games were bad, rehashed and racist, in that order.
So I'm not so sad about this.
