I love this one too - I always loved Bert and Ernie - and it could be because I knew at least one of them was gay.

I've never heard of this Avenue Q before. Sounds pretty damn funny.
Found a couple more songs after I dug through my fading memory of Saturday morning cartoons a bit longer:
This is a song about a whale...NO! This is a song about being happy!
I used to love Animaniacs, back in the day when Spielberg still produced some freaking awesome cartoons like Freakazoid.

Here's my favourite Ren and Stimpy bit- bizarrely, this is the best video I could find.
I actually think she's very funny in it, though!

Buch's Comedy Songs Lectures are back!I love talking about comedy! And I have so many favourite funny songs. So - today I want to talk about someone who probably should have been mentioned earlier - the grandaddy of funny music, Cole Porter. Of course now he's very dated and his stuff doesn't seem so funny or wonderful. But if you can look through that, you can see something amazing. Nowadays, you have to give him a minute. But on the other hand, nowadays his name is synonymous with wit and sophisticated writing. (And of course he's remembered for his serious songs too - Night and Day... I think Moon River was his too?) And this song right here - this could be the theme tune to this thread! I bet he'd hate to called a 'grandaddy' though

I don't know how this forum reacts to 3 month bumps, just let me know.
Anyhow, here's a couple from one of my favorites, Tom Lehrer

Community is pretty small here so a little necromancy is just fine for threads like this.

This is one thread I sincerely hope will never die.
But yeah as JK said, it's no bother on a small site like ours. And there are some threads I like to see going for ever.
I've never heard of Tom Lehrer. Those songs are very nice indeed. And the first one was... gutsy!

All right, I don' think anyone has ever mentioned Bill Bailey on this thread, and that's not good enough.
Here are a couple of his:
And one of my favourite comedy songs ever - a song "Which encompasses all elements of love: Loss, betrayal, and depression".

Just realize he did that song (and many of his other button pushing classics) in the mid 60's.

Just realize he did that song (and many of his other button pushing classics) in the mid 60's. Exactly! If he wrote that now it would be edgy. Kudos to him.

Tom Lehrer was also a Harvard prof (no lie). New Englanders (both current and former, like me) grew up knowing "The Elements Song" (and man, did it come in handy). Of course, in those days, we also got to hear Dr. Demento on the radio on Saturday nights, so we got to hear all sorts of weirdness (I miss local radio. I hate the fact that it's all syndicated broadcast crap just about everywhere now). My favorite songs are still "The Masochism Tango" and "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park". I scared one new friend of mine with the former once. I don't think he ever recovered. Probably the only good WoW movie ever made:

That's one of my favurite songs, Clint. And it's been a morale boost for me since I was very little. Very close to my heart, that song.

'Doctor Horrible' and 'Commentary! the Musical' are both full of surprisingly-great comedy songs.
That one is in my head at the moment.

I love Doctor Horrible! There are some actually great non-comedy songs in it too!
Another one from Bill Bailey:
