Ok, as I've said before, I've played Fallout 3. Concidering Bethesda is using the same game engine to Oblivion, I've expected some cheesy moments in that game and not to be emotionally moving, let alone frightening.
But... I... was... fucking... wrong.
There are moments that kinda make me jumped out of my skin. First off, the Gore bags. I didn't bat an eyelid when it comes to exploding body parts but look at the sight of the bloodied dismembered mess that laid out in front of me when I shoot people to death but the Gore Bags. It's was revolting and it didn't helped it made this squishy, disgusting sound effect whenever you open open the bag. I cannot helped imagine my lone wanderer with her hands all bloodied and messy after rumaging through for some extra bottle caps from the 'dead'
Secondly, Vault 87. That place was messed up... really bad. Not only you see walls spattered in blood, rusted corridors, dark dimed atmoshpere and it's based in underground... but the origins how vault 87 got into that state was truly horriffying. I cannot believe I got nightmares from that after I've managed to finish the level late at night. And that's from me who didn't shaken by RE5 that much...
Anyways, so what moments in other games that freak you out? Also I feel like a wimp after admitting I've freak out over a game like Fallout 3...

Well Fallout 3 didn't give me any chills... but I have been spooked out many times in games.
The first time I played Resident Evil 2 I had to stop playing because it was too tense. No joke. Back then I was much less macho and fantastic than I am now of course. Seriously I had a huge fear of of zombies which now has been desensitised much better.
F.E.A.R. made me jump several times. The bit where you turn around to climb onto the ladder and when you are on the ladder the girl is where you were standing looking at you - I yelped, jumped back and threw my character backwards off the ladder. After a moment I started laughing and going 'Touche, random girl!'
Similarly Project Zero (AKA Fatal Frame) frightened me several times.

Yeah I've tried played F.E.A.R a bit but then I wasn't good at FPS from the start, not only the horror elements didn't make it better but also I was playing the games lab at uni... so yeah... I've didn't last long.

I'm also not keen on FPS's as you know, but F.E.A.R. is a good one. Except for the repetitive levels. The horror stuff kept me interested.

Resident Evil 2 and Dino Crisis were the first games I played where I found myself terrified. The first time I played RE2 was out in the country, in the middle of nowhere, at a spooky farmhouse, and it was one of my first experiences with 3D gaming. So...I was tripping balls. Half-Life 2 gave me some pretty decent scares during the Ravenholm section of it. Final Fantasy VII scared me pretty good once they started introducing the Jenova (sp?) character, and suddenly everyone was dying all around the Shinra building. Finding trails of blood in combination with the spooky music that was playing freaked me right the fuck out. Fallout 3 actually did manage to scare me pretty good when I accidentally stumbled upon Old Olney. I somehow got to the center of the city without incident, and then, suddenly, I'm surrounded by deathclaws. Then I ended up in the sewer (somehow!) and there were more deathclaws down there! I was pretty much on my last clip and a few bars of health by the time I was finally able to fast travel out of there.

Hey Knightfall, did you do the "Dark Heart of Blackhall" quest from pointlook out?
So far I think the Dunwich building kinda tops over vault 87 imo when it comes to the fear factor.
I swear when I've first step into the forsaken Dunwich building, the screen switches over from the dark, cramped ruins with lots of debris to the same room in a bright light colours with some human who is still alive in the pre-war, like a fucking flashback that happened in realtime just before it switches back into normal mode. God... no wonder some dude said "Stay away from the Dunwich Building."

Corpus human's in Morrowind. That bit where there was a horde of them coming at me in a locked room. Gave me these nightmares for weeks about dead bodies dropping on me.

Hey Knightfall, did you do the "Dark Heart of Blackhall" quest from pointlook out? I actually haven't and finding out about this makes me excited. I really like Point Lookout as a zone. Just walking around and finding odd ruins was fun to do. I sorta just breezed through it for the achievements and haven't been back since. I'll make it a point to play through that quest tonight. xD

Fallout 3 has to get worse, doesn't it?
Recently I've downloaded the Firefly Ranch mod that triggers this quest that beats senseless out of both Vault 87 and The Dark Heart of Blackhall quest in the High Octane Nightmare factor. I've been taking pitures of the progress of the quest, I'll post it up as soon I'm done with it.

I actually ripped some audio off of YouTube videos and put them in Fallout 3's audio files. Music from the Playstation and Nintendo 64 versions of Doom (really great and scary ambient tracks), and some from the original Terminator movie. Needless to say, it makes the game tense, scary, and makes me feel extremely isolated... in the best way possible.
EDIT: I actually have the music pack that I made available for download, if anyone's interested. Even if you don't have the PC version of Fallout 3, you still get some free music.

I couldn't take it seriously with all those weird nipples. It reminded me of a boss fight on god of war II where you climbed up a gorgon and cut it's boobs off or something.

Well maybe not as creepy or outright scary as FEAR but concidering I'm playing around 2-3 am in the morning and being a walking glass cannon, I have to say it started me a little enough. Took me three tries before I've found a ligitamate exploit with my mage to beat the broodmother. Just stand at the far end, summon the Tempest and Blizzard spell onto her and just take her out slowly at range for a good measure. startling ugly but it's piss beatable if you can exploit it.

I have to say, the Broodmother just made me laugh - a lot xD
I mean, what the hell is that thing? The mother of the darkspawn? I had no idea - I just rounded a corner and there was... that... surreal thing with no explanation. It cracked me up. AND! I had just got done fighting the "spider queen". Spider what?! That does not exist, Bioware!

well they are MAGIC! spiders. We should have had to slash through caves full of Spider princesses and spider noblemen.
That Spider Queen had to wait all that time to take the spider-throne just to be killed by an albino wizard wearing no clothes during her coronation ball. Tragic...
