Every October I scour Google images and get a suitably Haloweeny desktop walpaper for my computer. Usually it's just a still from 'Frankenstein' or something equally pedestrian. But this year! I have found what may be my favourite piece of art ever ever. www.freewindows.dk/fw/modules/myalbum/photos/1441.jpgI think that's fantastic. My favourite is the couple in the top-right corner, proudly shaking hands after tying a Star Trek red-shirt to a rock. They look so gosh darn proud of themselves!

Ha ha! I love halloween though I'm to old to trick n treat or throw eggs at people anymore I'm enjoying my new role of buying the sugary surprises, cutting out pumpkin lanterns and fighting Daniel away from the snack bowl. Last year we had no kiddies though, I felt kind of sad about it. I haven't actually seen a tiddly winkle for Halloween in a couple of years actually, not since I moved off from London. Hopefully this year I will make a better center piece and really make the house look like a beacon of doom and sweeties. Ooo what should I dress up as this year? I think I was the ninja last year. How about a Heroine? Wait this is the north I need to be something northern scary. Maybe I should be a police officer. lol

Scarry, I was just full of the Haloween spirit and hugely amused by how over the top that picture is. It's my desktop wallpaper now lol at the beacon of doom and sweeties! My own Haloween celebrations are much less exciting - I watch horror movies, read horror books and ocasionally wear Dracula fangs at odd times. And I'm not good at all with kids - so I think you're doing it just right Zars.

I have a love hate relationship with tiddly peeps. I dislike babies because they serve no purpose. Something that lays around all day drinking, eating, shitting itself then crying out of boredom just isn't right. Like a Chav really. I love children between the age of 18 months and 6 though. They are awesomeness. I can tell them stuff and they believe me and blow a dandelion head and say "Hey look fearies!" and they get so excited. Then about 8/9 they turn into know it all monsters and I start losing interest.
Ah I am looking forward to inducing ADD in kiddies!

I was thinking of that song when I posted this thread, yes That's such a good movie. It's werdly become a sort of icon - or Jack's head has - appearing on clothes and various items, owned by people ho aren;t necessarily fans of the movie itself. I think that song, 'What's This' and the love theme (which may be called Sally's Song?) are just wonderful pieces. And the movie is funny too. I usually watch it at Christmas rather than Haloween as an antidote to too much sugar.

Christmas is time for Monopoly and action movies!

I like that idea. Christmas is when I watch action movies with my dad. Christmas is also the time for Wallace and Gromit, drinking and eating really rich stuff I wouldn't normally touch...
And most of all, Morcambe and Wise. Their Christmas specials are one of the things that have never failed to make me happy.

Christmas, for me, is drinking as much Egg Nog as I can before the markets stop carrying it. ><

I've never had eggnog. I looked for some last year but couldn't find any. Do we stock that stuff in the UK?
Normally I play board games with my siblings for Christmas. Its the only time we ever play together as my siblings are all 20 years older than me. We never really bonded when I was a kid. Actually my eldest brother didn't even speak to me until my 16th birthday. So I enforced board games when we started spending Christmas together and its stuck for the last 6 years. My mother is not allowed to play cluedo with us though because every time she looks at her cards upon being dealt and says "Mr plum in the conservatory with the spanner." looks at the cards and wanders off mumbling its a boring game because she always wins. Oh and breakfast! Christmas is all about the breakfast! Scramble eggs and smoked salmon on granary toast. Of course everybody else is eating a carnivore breakfast but I look forward to my mothers scramble eggs all year. lol
I'm not too keen on Daniel's family Christmas. It was their turn to have us for Christmas last year and it wasn't so good. They tried to put a show on for me by actually buying a few presents for each other but they got board and everybody went out. Daniel then ate KFC for dinner and I was left to fend for myself food wise and all they had was cabbage and white bread so I mostly ate what was left of the Christmas cake I made, napped and played DS when anybody would let me have my DS for the few days we were their. Boredom is an understatement. One of the days I even started to clean the house I was so bored but Daniel stopped me and said it might be perceived as rude. Then of course Daniel's little sister had a few of her tantrums. She's a nice girl but when her tantrums start I do have the urge to push her out a window, though I am told this is a common feeling.

I think I prefer the American name though, because it's funny. Either way, it is a part of Christmas for me. That last Christmas sounds very disappointing. Why was there no Christmas Dinner at Daniels?!

They don't do family gatherings/dinners. They don't normally eat together period. They were supposed to do a christmas dinner but then Daniel's sister had a tantrum and stormed off with her boyfriend, Daniels little brother went to his friends house to play xbox, daniels older brother was far more interested in taking the dog for a walk and we had no idea where his parents were off to/doing. They all just went 'fuck it' and went out. I was probably a lot more upset than I like to tell Daniel, mostly because I spent months making a christmas cake then jumbo cookies and gingerbread men and mince pies that I spent 2 days making puff pastry for and what not that they just took out with them and didn't leave me any of, but oh well. I had new years eve at my brothers where we had a 7 course mexican dinner that left me wanting to die from cheese over load for a week and my mother made me her veggie chicken pie to take home with me. I almost cried at that because I love that pie. You cannot imagine the pleasure that pie gives me and I hate pie/pastry. She puts asparagus in it. Now I'm reading this back christmas last year was suicide worthy. I am NOT spending christmas with them this year thats for sure. Meh ignore me I'm very moody lately. My life is incredibly strenuous. I'm seriously thinking about taking my eldest sister up on her offer of letting me stay with her for a gap year in Buddapest. Might be nice to see a desert.
