Gawd, this was one of those movies that came on during my "too tired to do anything, but too awake to fall asleep" phase one night. I had never been a super big fan of the X-Files. I watched it here and there when I was like...ten years old, er something. Long time ago.
So this comes on and I actually enjoyed it very much. Can't say much for the acting, I seem to remember Mulder and Scully being rather wooden, even in the show, but the concept was rather deep and intelligent: something sorely missing from the movies these days.
I would tack it up there along side Knowing for having an amazing concept that's hidden by other, more prominent (but not necessarily better), elements of the film. The whole faith over science over the unknown is a very cool conflict, and I haven't seen it in a movie for a very long time.
The X-Files: I Want To Believe. Loved it. Good movie that will probably be remembered for concept and visuals over production value...if it's remembered at all. ><

They always did have a great theme song. I like this version very much, with the strings playing the main tune. The movie sounds good. Faith vs Science eh?
And I believe it has my favourite national treasure, Billy Connolly, in it.

Ah, yeah! Billy Connolly was amazing in it. The bright spot in terms of acting. He plays a priest who happens to be a pedophile, and he starts getting these psychic visions that come true. He thinks that God is talking to him, but at the same time...you know...Mulder and Scully are very hesitant to believe this. Sorta contradictory, ya know?
So that's one of the main conflicts in the story. What do you believe? And how can you?
I'm waiting to see a movie where Billy Connolly takes the lead roll and smashes it. I can only really remember him in The Last Samurai and The Boondock Saints (loved him in that movie). Boondock Saints II is coming out soon, and he's really my only reason for seeing it. Not sure how they can even hope to top the first one.

I'm waiting to see a movie where Billy Connolly takes the lead roll and smashes it. Two words for you, Eleven. Mrs Brown. He's wonderful in it. Also check out his comedy and his 'World Tour' travelogues if you haven't already.
