So, being gamers ourselves, I think it's timely if we vent what games that rub us the wrong way.
I don't play much games that irritates me, but Too Human is a nice comeback to my old ranting self when it comes to games and irritations.
Besides Too Human, I know a few games on the top of my head that plagued me as a gamer back in childhood.
-Bart and the Space mutaints: Seriously, the game design is so terrible I can't fucking past the first stage. Ugh! I've almost cried when I feel like I'm going no where.
-Dragonlance. I saw some awsome fantasy figures on the front cover, I've brought it for 9 bucks... man I was disappointed to the point I've almost hurled my controller.
-Yoshi's Story. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are awsome, the presentation is cute and gameplay is decent but it's TOO SHORT and the singing Yoshis... still haunts me to this day.
So yeah here are my gripes on the top of my head for now. So what's yours?

Ok the worst of the annoying games I've come across have actually been on the DS! lol It has some of the worst unrelenting, mind numbing, infuriating, looping pieces of shit found anywhere in the world. Other than that the old consoles you could never save progress on were pretty rant worthy.
Naruto Broken bonds is really annoying as well. I've had so many problems with it. It's lost my saving progress a few times and it has glitches with its menu's that could drive a person insane. It randomly decided its going to reload the menu over and over and over again sometiems so you end up spending 20 minutes just trying to get on the game. lol
Gears of war series drives me crazy with its 'yo big head in the way of the screen' issues. Also the characters apparent ability to ignore a wall you want him to stick to and chuck himself into a boomers fire and kill himself. Suicidal avatars are not fun. Then we have the multiplayer issues. Epic Games is to cheap to buy a server so you end up biting the pad when some rejects versus you in a match with no internet connection. They're fine because your internet connection si sending them all your locations but you're fucked because theres is running about 20 minutes behind and showing you where they're characters USED to be. So you're shooting at the wall? Damn you Epic! Damn you to cyber hell for that! Saying all that though.... I'll still play horde. lol
Halo and its non-stop copy and pasted corridors. At the flood level near the end of Halo 2 I actually got so lost from the copy past corridors I walked in a circle back and forth for an hour. The shame of Bungie. Then we get onto the freaky realization that any NPC can have infinity ammo of the super weapons in the game. Not fun when you're stuck behind a wall with 30 brutes shooting Spartan Lasers and rockets. Can't even make them waste all the ammo because Noooooo they gotta have infinity ammo. I want infinity ammo damn it!
Burnout Paradise. I have one gripe with this game. Why, when I get a new car, do I have to go to the garage pick it up, drive it to a repair station, drive it back and THEN you'll let me paint it and what not. Why? Just give me the car ready fixed already! Its a waste of time. Its stupid. Its aggravating.
I'll shut up now....

Speaking of copying and pasting levels, Mass Effect is guity of this really. The uncharted world is boring as hell, hence I've only go to the desinated quest area then once it's done, I've called in the Normandy to take Shepard back home. Can't be fucked exploring the rest of the area. So hopefully they fix that up in ME2.
Another thing that bugs me in RPGS is what type of western RPG you're leaning on. If you're going to make a storybase game, make sure the story is co-heirant, otherwise be damned. If you're going to make it a more loot based then make sure the gameplay is damn interesting and less of a chore... acutally fuck this. In ALL RPGS, please make the story co-heirant, at a nice pace and doesn't have a cliff hanger. And to all games ESPECIALLY RPGS, make the gameplay more engaging and feel like a guilty pleasure, not a fucking chore. And I'm talking about not just Too Human but also Neverwinter Nights 2!

Two Worlds. That game reeked. I'd sell it on, but I don't think anyone would buy it. >_<

Now here's a smashing idea for a thread.
I definitely agree with Bart vs The Goddamn Space Mutants. Bart handles like a shopping trolley and the jumping tasks are near impossible in later levels. You hear 'Eat my shorts' every few seconds.
I'd also include every Simpsons game I've played with the exception of Virtual Springfield which was barely a game but really good fun.
I don't know that I'd call it shit, but the original Metroid was and is extremely frustrating, simply because A) The only way to save is to die, so you restart in the middle of the map with zero health and B) The final boss is so incredibly hard and her main attack is to knock you into lava that drains your health and is hard to jump from. There is a remake ove the game on gameboy advance which is so much easier and has save rooms. I love that version.
I hate Shadows of the Empire on N64. It's really fiddly and awkward.
And I agree about the copy-paste uncharted worlds on Mass Effect. They're a joke. You go across the same worlds, into the same buildings, fight the same guys. Get the same armour and mods. I kinda like driving the Mako though so usually explore all the points of interest.
I think the worst game I ever played is Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. This was just a few weeks ago, after I saw the Angry Video Game Nerd's recent review of it. I was curious so I looked online and found a playable version on YouTube. It was abominable, but so much so that I was laughing all the way through.
EDIT:
Oh God, I hated Two Worlds. I finished it, but what a waste of time.
Greetings and forsooth, maiden! Mayhap I might do battle with some enemies and constantly die, only to mayhap respawn ten feet away and die again, mayhap. I have twenty of the same shield.

Don't get me started on the Mako mate. I've manged to kill myself on my first playthrough in the MAKO! Shadows of the Empire... I've only played the demo in the shops. but yeah I have a hard time controling the fucking ship. That's all I can vagely remembered in my childhood. Lol at the Simpsons games. The only Simpson game I've enjoyed it was the arcade beat em up. I love that. If I'm rich, first thing I'll do is the by the arcade cabinet of that game. Plumbers don't wear ties.... good lord it defiles the rules of play in a hideous, unredamable way. I saw it on AVGN as well... god that's was painful to watch. How did you managed to get through Buch? Two Worlds... now that's the game I'll try next. I'll find a really cheap used version of the game, so I can start snarking it up and learn the bad elements of it. While we're on the subject of Mass Effect, I like to point out that if it weren't for BioWare's integrity and keeping up the Golden Silence rule, the game's reputation would be tarnished by the hype itself, in the likes of Fable and Too Human... no wait scratch that. Mass Effect is NOT a fustrating experiance in gameplay wise and the storyline does end in a decent closure. They also counted why dispite the glaring faults like the sub levels and the glitch texture popping, the game still get's around the 90's mark. I suppose now we know that hype and bad mouthing is a dangerous thing in comes to publicity and game sales. --- Another game that fustrated me is World of Warcraft. I know I've vent this game just as much as Too Human at the moment but bottom line is if you have a limited and short attention span as me, this isn't the game for you. Linage II. The game looked pretty but being an MMO and playing a crack server, I have to say I have a bad time with it due to the bad community. (The usual of the internet.) Neverwinter Nights 2. I think I've almost cried when I've wasted like $114 with the special edition that has an artbook with the artist being substandard and the game is awkard and not as fluid as the original Neverwinter Nights game. From that game, since then... I'm very careful in pre-ordering games. (You can see why I'm kinda recluctant in pre-ordering Dragon Age due to bad experiance.) --- Gripes? So far I failed in a spatacular bloody fashion in Resident Evil 5. Not a bad game, just that I suck in reflex and accuracy atm. Same goes to Street fighter 4. I love that game but my skills are back to being a bloody noob again. Now I had to figure out the combos, special moves and all the jazz to play the game properly again. That's all for now on the top of my head. EDIT: You think Two Worlds are a waste of time, try Too Human. It made a void in my heart after I've finished it

I don't know if it was a dream or if I really managed to flip the mako on its back. This is from like last week. It may have just been hallucinating because it was 4am when I was playing the game. I seriously can't tell the difference between whether it was a dream or not. I really think I'm working to hard and having dreams far to vivid for a human being. Then again I do spend most of my time being an insomniac so maybe my dreams are being concentrated into sheer brilliance. lol I tending to agree with that theory at the moment after having another Ghibli movie dream last night. I woke up and told Daniel about seeing the new trailer for the Ghibli movie and he looked for it everywhere online until telling me I was dreaming again. I've written the movie story down though and pondering making it into a script and sending to Ghibli studio's just to see if they'd take it. lol I'm rambling. I haven't slept in 48 hours.

Gotta agree with you on NWN2 - what a disappointment. Mask of the Betrayer more than made up for it, though. That game did *everything* right.
Another one of mine: Dreamfall; The Longest Journey. The first game, The Longest Journey, was amazingly good. It was a brilliant Point+Click, and the characters were brilliant. April Ryan is one of my all-time favourite protagonists.
Dreamfall took everything that was good about TLJ and shoved it out the airlock. The main character, Zoe, is unlikable and false. And they ruined April. Ruined her.

Yeah it's possible to have the Mako flipped over and getting stuck there. Happened to me when the Thresher Maw was RIGHT under me... and well shit hits the roof, trapped and my Shepard becomes a 5 star course for that fatass space worm for the night.
---
I've haven't played the MotB but I'm thinking about getting it when I see it on the shelf again.
Heard the ending to Dreamfall... that was sad about April. Hopefully they can make the sequel and make up by having April escape her fate.

Yes the Thresher Maws can flip you. Stupid Thresher Maws with their one-hit kills.
I love point and click games, but never played Dreamfall. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Another gripe from Mass Effect... I hate Thresher Maws. Everytime I see one, I just run unless I had no choice but to shoot the Goddamn thing.

I know April survives, somehow, but still... her character was dead long before she got stabbed. I mourn the loss. And yes, Till, pick up MotB at your earliest convenience, because it is AMAZING. Make sure you play TLJ before Dreamfall, Buch. You can usually buy them as a box-set. (here; www.game.co.uk/PC/Action/Adventure/~r329820/Dreamfall-Collectors-Edition/?s=dreamfall ) As for flipping the MAKO, once when playing BDTS I jumped it off that big mountain with the radio tower, and managed to jettison the camera through the floor scenery, and then get it stuck, facing backwards, under the MAKO. I don't know how.

Cheers Scarin. If my typewriter can run it I'll check that out. Plumbers don't wear ties.... good lord it defiles the rules of play in a hideous, unredamable way. I saw it on AVGN as well... god that's was painful to watch. How did you managed to get through Buch? It was fun! I had a great time wondering what the hell was going on, how it ever got published, and talking to the screen. Getting yelled at by the narrator/s and insulted by every character. It was a surreal but ironically funny experience.

Lol... still I wouldn't call it an interactive media piece. To be perfectly honest even some of the Educational games have more interactivity than that game!
... still I feel tempted to play, so where did you get it from?
