Currently, the agri-food sector , like many others, faces a time of crisis and uncertainty . The war in Ukraine, the supply crisis, inflation and the territorial gap are some of the challenges facing the Spanish countryside. However, it is also in these moments that good ideas proliferate and new opportunities arise to redefine the world as we know it. With a tendency to abandon rural areas, this redefinition is especially urgent, especially if we want Spain to be a leader in the agri-food sector . It is at this point that digital emerges with force . Combining tradition with technology is an alliance that has already demonstrated its benefits in many other sectors and that in the field can show great potential. Promoting initiatives that provide resources and inject the necessary support for this digital transformation in rural areas is essential for the Spain of the future. That is the work of Enisa , a public company that aims to finance innovative projects and accompany our SMEs in their digitalization process. Enisa, together with Business Insider Spain , organized a meeting on entrepreneurship and social innovation and the agri-food sector on November 28.
To share experiences and visions about the sector, José Bayón , CEO of Enisa, participated; Vanessa Casilimas , co-founder & CEO of sustainable snack brand Honesly; Carmen Nieves Busto , managing director of Granja Abuela Luisa; and Carlos García , CEO of the online platform Abastores. Yovanna Blanco , director of Business Insider Spain , moderated the debate. José Bayón, CEO of Enisa. José Bayón, CEO of Enisa. The meeting began with a brief review Jamaica Mobile Number List of the current situation of the sector , in which Carlos García listed some of the challenges that the sector faces right now: the war , macroeconomic instability and high prices were some of the factors. that stood out. Carmen Nieves added that, precisely, it is moments like this that are shown “as an opportunity to give value to the world of the countryside ,” as is already happening in other countries. Support for a strategic sector for our country The application of tools such as artificial intelligence or big data can help our farmers a lot, allowing them to have better knowledge of their crops and foreseeing situations that they can anticipate.
As always, to reach this horizon, it is necessary to have investment . Digitalization, although enormously beneficial in the medium and long term, can be a significant initial investment that holds back many professionals in the field. For José Bayón, the current social and economic situation has only accelerated a process that "was already underway" and he celebrates this being the case since it is a "strategic sector for the country." Enisa, as he said, is part of that process thanks to a line of 45 loans, with more than 8 million euros invested . Regarding the type of projects that are financed by this public company, Bayón clarifies that they have a very varied profile. One of the examples is Vanessa Casilimas' company. Honesly produces “ healthy, tasty and sustainable snacks ” with its own workshop in Barcelona. “We are innovating especially in the production part to reach what the consumer increasingly demands, which is that it be a product that is as natural as possible ,” she explained.
