Wait, so did we seriously go from gritty reboot territory to Bond and Blofeld having a shared backstory inspired by Austin Powers: Goldmember in under a decade?

I just saw this movie today, and am thinking I need to watch "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall", as there seem to have been some references to both, and certain things didn't track fully from the last one I saw which was "Casino Royale".
Terrific movie though.
And I found myself playing a short game of "Hey, It's That Guy!", wherein one notices actors they recognize specifically from other shows, and I noticed that Spectre featured both Lord Voldemort and Drax the Destroyer in it... though, hilariously enough, on opposite sides of the Hero / Villain Spectrum - Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) as a Good Guy, and Drax (Dave Bautista) as a Villain.
I must also take a moment to appreciate he fantastic opening sequence - the amazing long tracking shot during Dia de Muertos in Mexico City, the cinematography was incredible and beautiful.
And like most Bond Songs, the Opening Credits sequence was awesome as well - Sam Smith's song "Writing's On The Wall" is a fantastic song, and the scenery during the song was so beautiful and haunting... I've always loved abstract / dream-like imagery set to music like that...
All in all, great movie - and now I must get my hands on "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall".
