But the entire thing at the end was that it wasn't a true story--it was a fabricated, over-hyped thing the reporter wrote. It's making fun of early Star Wars stuff, and I think he found a nice balance between mocking and actually writing good camp-style adventure. I know, and believe me Knightfall will be kicking me about that later! I liked the little twist where it turned out Geptun was writing it. I just didn't think that was quite enough to justify the melting rock men. I have a long list of minor complaints! But I did like the book a lot.

I have only read the prologue so far - but I am liking it! It's very much what I'd expect from the mixture of Pratchett and Gaimain's styles.

I just finished reading both Mass Effect novels, and was pleasantly surprised. They were much better than I expected them to be. Now, I'm reading Star Dragon, by Mike Brotherton. I'm enjoying it, it reminds me of David Brin's writing a lot. Oh, and it's a free download: www.mikebrotherton.com/novels/index.html

I only read the first ME novel, but I did like it. I thought Saren was done quite badly though - as he was one of my favourite characters in the game. I have the second book but never found time to read it.
Tell you what's a great Bioware book - 'Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne.' Amazing.
BTW Till - I just read the first 80 pages of Good Omens - and it's hilarious. Great recommendation.

Good Omens is good stuff. But then, most of Prachett and Gaiman is. XD I love the way he characterizes the kids.
Personally, I couldn't get through the first Mass Effect book. It just didn't do anything I haven't seen fan fiction do better. The characterization, the wording itself...plain.

I have to say - though I liked the book (Mass Effect) I have read better fanfics.

Exactly! I went in hoping for something to make that world more real, and found that it felt flatter than the game.

It's true, it did read like a lot of fan fiction I've read at times, but it was STILL better than I expected. Drew's still a better writer than R. A. Salvatore - now there's some bad game related fiction!

Personally, I couldn't get through the first Mass Effect book. It just didn't do anything I haven't seen fan fiction do better. The characterization, the wording itself...plain. Yeah, I couldn't finish it either. Karpyshyn is my Canadian Hero, but I don't see how he can justify the antagonist showing up on page 122. I'd take the fine, fine stories this forum churns out over Karpy's ME works any day (and I do). And I agree with Buch, "Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne" was a very good BioWare book. A little wordy at times, but it was well-written and interesting. David Gaider is a great writer. And I also disagree with Buch on the melting rock men. A kicking is in order. And any negative talk about R.A. Salvatore will result in me riding my own horse off a cliff in Red Dead Redemption. Have that on your conscience. xD

I did get my horse killed, but it was on account of a pack of asshole wolves. *sniff*
Not sure what I should be reading right now. "The Han Solo Adventures" was good for a few chapters, but it hasn't kept my attention very well. Thinking I might try a Louis L'Amour western novel or "Neuromancer" by William Gibson. Not sure anymore. =(

Glad to hear that you've enjoying "Good Omens" Buch. One of my favourite books of all time so far.
I wish I have time to read but atm I got exams and projects to do... and other games to work on. >.>
I haven't read Neuromancer but you could give it a shot Knight, one of the professors in class recommend it.

Neuromancer is great. Not a feel good book of course, but it spawned so many other cyberpunk books and concepts. I think you'll like it.
